WELLBEING NEWS

Welcome to 2024 and our new look Wellbeing Team. The staff have been divided into two groups. One being the Wellbeing team and the other, Teaching and Learning. All staff have access to all Teaching & Learning meetings where all information, learning and shared ideas are worked on together as a whole staff. Each classroom is consistently beginning the day with “Morning Circle”. This begins with a morning greeting to the people around us. Then focusing in on what School Values each class would like to work towards for each day, including behaviours, too. Next is time for the students to share any special announcements for the day or evening. Each class tries a variety of Positive Primers (Attachment below of some examples). Concluding with a quick reflection of what went well in the “Morning Circle”.

This year Kellie Healy continues her second year as the (MHAWL) – Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader and Kelly Kosloff is joining her as the Wellbeing Leader. The importance of Wellbeing is at the forefront of all students, and as educators we understand that students must feel connected, listened to and respected within our school.

Buddies and Mates has had a revamp, after we listened to the student feedback from 2023. Students wanted to meet more often and complete activities that were more contusive to having Buddy Classroom’s. Within these each student has either one or two Buddies. It provides opportunities for the Buddy Classrooms to celebrate learning, meet for lunch, work together for special occasions and complete our fortnightly sessions together. Building even stronger bonds with other students from outside their own classroom. We have completed a couple of these sessions and they have been very successful.

Save the date for our Mother’s Day/Special Person Day on Friday May the 10th. We will get back to you with more information as the Wellbeing Team and staff organize another Community Event for our school.

Kind Regards,

Kellie Healy and Kelly Kosloff
