Sustainability Club

Sustainability Club Tuesdays 1:45pm - 3pm

We're thrilled to share some exciting updates from our Sustainability Club and Lunchtime Activities, where our students have been actively engaging in hands-on learning experiences and outdoor adventures.

Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to Carmen, Kahlia, and Michelle for generously volunteering their time over the past three weeks to support our clubs. Your dedication has allowed us to accommodate extra students and create enriching experiences for all involved. We truly appreciate your commitment to our community.

In the Sustainability Club, our young environmental stewards have been hard at work tending to our school garden and embracing sustainable practices. Over the past few weeks, they've been involved in a variety of activities, including harvesting and packaging seeds, propagating plants, planting new greenery, weeding, and relocating our compost bins to a more accessible area. Through these hands-on experiences, our students are not only learning about environmental sustainability but also developing valuable life skills and a deep appreciation for nature.

Next week, we're excited to announce that our Sustainability Club will be hosting an after-school stall to raise funds for future initiatives. The students will be selling packets of seeds that they've harvested themselves, including Dill, Parsley, Basil, and Coriander, priced at $1 per packet. Additionally, we'll have bunya pine seeds available at 3 for $3. It's a fantastic opportunity to support the club while also adding some fresh, homegrown flavours to your kitchen garden. We encourage you to join us next Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 3:20 pm and show your support for our budding environmentalists.

In addition to our Sustainability Club, our Lunchtime Activities have been buzzing with energy and excitement. Students have been enjoying outdoor play and exploration, facilitated by our dedicated team of volunteers and staff members. It's been wonderful to see our students making the most of their time outdoors, engaging in physical activity, and fostering friendships in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

As we continue to nurture a culture of sustainability and well-being within our school community, we invite you to join us in supporting these initiatives and encouraging our students to become active participants in shaping a greener, healthier future.

Thank you for your ongoing support and participation. If you would like to become involved please reach out to Aasta through the office, Art room, or via email at aasta.dearnaley@education.vic.gov.au. Your contribution makes a difference and more helpers means more students can join!

All parent volunteers are required to have a free Working With Children Check (WWCC). If you don't have one you can find the details here: https://service.vic.gov.au/services/working-with-children
