Year Seven-Nine
Coaching Parade Campus
On Tuesday, we proudly held our first Secondary Assembly for 2026, with students demonstrating outstanding respect and representing the school with pride as we gathered in Homestead’s gymnasium. A special congratulations to our 2026 School Captains, who hosted the assembly for the first time and spoke with great confidence and professionalism. We were also inspired by reflections from students who recently participated in our inaugural India exchange program — an incredible and pioneering opportunity for Saltwater College. The assembly was further enriched by a fantastic performance of 'Baby' by Justin Bieber from our talented Year 8 band. To conclude, we recognised and celebrated our Year 7–9 student leaders, who were formally presented with their certificates and badges in honour of their recent appointments.

With the term drawing to a close, our Year 9 Fundraising Committee has been busy selling drinks at lunchtime. We’d love to see more students come along and support their efforts!
Next week marks an exciting milestone, as Year 9 hosts its first major fundraising event: Harmony Day / Cultural Day. Students are encouraged to wear orange or an outfit that represents their cultural background. A gold coin donation is required, and we hope to see everyone getting involved and showing their
community spirit.
There will also be a sausage sizzle available at lunchtime, so please come along and support the students. All funds raised will go towards the 2026 Year 9 graduation.

It has been an exciting period for our students, particularly with the introduction of our new Secondary P.E. program. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with high levels of participation and enthusiasm across all year levels.
Students have been engaging in a range of activities designed to build both physical skills and confidence. Our crew gym sessions have been a standout, with students participating in circuit training and boxing, demonstrating resilience, commitment, and a willingness to challenge themselves. In addition, our golf sessions at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club—guided by a professional coach—have provided a fantastic opportunity for students to develop new skills in a supportive environment.
Our partnerships with local facilities have also enriched the program. Tennis training at our local club and soccer sessions at Brookdale Oval have allowed students to experience a range of sports while developing teamwork and communication skills. It has been particularly pleasing to see all students actively involved, reflecting a strong sense of engagement in their learning.
Throughout the term we have seen excellent representation in recent inter-school sporting events. Our Swimming Carnival was a highlight, with students participating enthusiastically and representing the school with pride. We congratulate all involved for their efforts and sportsmanship.

Overall, it has been wonderful to see such strong participation and school spirit. We look forward to building on this momentum as the year continues.

Year 7
This year we are seeing an excited and enthusiastic group of students in Visual Communications. They are currently learning how to see and capture major design principles with iPhone cameras. Post production is achieved within the mobile device via 'Snapseed'. Design layout including spacing, negative and positive space plus text is achieved by the use of 'Keynote', to help aid with the development of future presentations.
The standard of work has been very impressive in this cohort which can be attributed to the introduction of google classroom. It's not only allowed for students to be accountable, but also provided a platform for easier self analysis.
Year 8
Year 8 has been busy learning how to operate a DSLR camera at a basic but critical level incorporating the design concept philosophy previously achieved in Year 7 on mobile devices. We look forward to seeing their skills progress as we move into next term.
Year 9
We are currently running different streams within the class environment.
Advanced – The use of semi-automatic modes to manipulate outcomes.
Beginner – Operation of DSLR cameras to capture design principles.
Advanced students have faced challenges with technical and design concepts as they are now required to merge the two for problem solving outcomes.
With this push for excellence, we have witnessed this group of students create real jobs in real time of a very high standard. This was achieved not only with technical proficiency, but a vast amount of planning and research.
