2027 Preps Invitation

Can you believe we already have had visits from eager parents wanting to know more about life and learning at Rosanna Primary School in 2027. If you have a friend or are eager to join a tour, perhaps come to a Come and Play Session or even just ask a question, please don’t hesitate to give us a call on 9457 2592. Bookings for tours and a range of other events can be made by going to our website by clicking here. You may have a neighbour or a friend to invite, so please consider sending through this link or picking up some flyers from the office.

Getting Ready for Easter

Rosanna is heading quickly to the holidays with two significant fundraisers on the horizon.

  1. FORPS Easter Raffle – Parents and Carers were sent home a collection of raffle tickets that can be purchased by families. It has been great to see people at the office already eager to be in the chance of winning a number of Easter Hampers. Thanks also to those who have contributed to the hampers by donating eggs, colouring books, chocolate and much more. Don’t hesitate to speak with the office team if you need more tickets. All orders and money are due by Friday 20 March.

  2. Junior School Council – BunRAISER! Students in the JSC are energetically promoting their fundraiser that will support State Schools Relief. State Schools’ Relief is a not-for-profit organisation that improves the lives of tens of thousands of disadvantaged Victorian students, and their families, each year. They support the purchase of uniforms and learning resources for so many within our community and beyond. Order forms went home on Tuesday. To make it easy you can make your order for you and the family on Qkr!

Playgrounds Update

Providing diverse play spaces for students of various ages has always been important at Rosanna Primary.  The three main structured playgrounds provide an invitation to play for the range of ages across the school. At the top playgrounds closest to Victoria Ave is the playground that has been constructed for students in Yrs Prep-3, while the playground next to it is higher with more significant challenges, for students in Yrs 3-6. The lower playground has been designed for students Years Prep-2. While it has been great to see the shared use of the lower playground at the end of the day, staff will be encouraging students to choose the appropriately sized playgrounds over the coming days. This is to ensure the safety of all students.

The newly established cubby houses have been constructed for the younger Prep to Yr2 students to enjoy and we will likewise encouraging older students to seek alternative places to play.

After School Supervision

I encourage all parents to ensure that their child is picked up or appropriately supervised by 3:45pm, the conclusion of staff supervised play. When the 3:45pm bell sounds, please ensure that you are closely supervising your child and providing support for them if needed. All students who do not have an adult will be directed to go to the office to await pickup or booked into the OSHC program.

To minimise traffic congestion and facilitate student pickups in the afternoon at the top gate, students will sit awaiting parent arrival. Once the parent comes into the indented ‘pick up’ zone, students will be encouraged to move towards their parents’/carers’ vehicle.

I hope that such reminders and actions ensure the safe departure of students from our care.

TheirCare Staffing Update

We are both saddened and thrilled for Tanja at TheirCare. She has a position in an Early Childhood setting that she will be moving to in Term 2. We will be sad to see her go, but are sure that she will fly in her new role. I want to express my gratitude for her professional leadership and calm council over the time that TheirCare has been collaborating to provide Out of Hours Care at Rosanna Primary. We look forward to formally farewelling her later in the term.

Birding Postponed to Tuesday 10 March

Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the fortnightly Birding Club to Tuesday 10 March. Those who still wish to join us are invited to contact the office. Students will need to have returned their Local Excursions Form.

Dog Policy Reminder

I ask all families and visitors to observe the school’s dog-free policy. An incident last week involving an unleashed dog in the yard highlighted that some students have significant anxieties around animals. Excluding dogs from the site helps keep our school safe and welcoming for everyone. I have attached the relevant policy to remind us all of the importance of keeping our site safe. Of particular note from the policy, is the following …

Whilst Rosanna Primary School understands that many families in our school community keep dogs as pets, to ensure that our school remains a safe and inclusive place for everyone, pet dogs are not permitted on school grounds under any circumstances.

Police Visit

Friday 6 March

Don’t panic when you see the police pull up and present themselves onsite this Friday. Students in the 4/5/6 and 3/4 Learning Area will be learning lots about emergency services and the way they support safety in our community. Such discussions are powerful connections of learning between school and the community.

First Wednesday Back for Preps

Wednesday 11 March

Next Wednesday we welcome Preps to their first Wednesday of the term! We have been very excited by their calm entry and development into the swing of learning. They are growing up!

NAPLAN

Begins on Wednesday 11 March

From next Wednesday our Year 3 and Year 5 students will have the opportunity to bend their brains around numbers and words in the annual NAPLAN assessment. A range of adaptive assessments send students through the areas of reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar, punctuation), and numeracy. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school's assessment and reporting process of students and complements teacher judgment. Students who are unwell and not present on the day will be assessed at a later period.

Public Holiday

Monday 9 March

A reminder that this Monday is a public holiday: the school and the out-of-school-hours care program will be closed. We look forward to hearing the stories and adventures of the long weekend upon our return on Tuesday.

Assembly Scheduling Update

Assemblies have been adjusted over the next two weeks to accommodate the long weekend, NAPLAN and the planned Years Yrs3–6 Athletics Carnival. We look forward to celebrating student achievement at the assembly next Friday 13 March at 2:45pm. There will be no assembly on Monday 16 March due to the Yrs3-6 Athletics Carnival.

ParentED (TO BE CONFIRMED)

Wednesday 25 March 7:00pm

We are pleased to introduce a new Parent Education forum as part of our 2026 initiatives to support students and families. The gathering will offer learning and support for parents and carers, providing practical strategies to help foster and nurture children and opportunities to connect with other families. The initial session is currently pencilled in for Wednesday 25 March. Keep your eye on Compass for the date to be confirmed and to know how to register your attendance.

Thank you to everyone who completed the recent community survey. Your feedback is helping shape future forum topics and workshop focus areas, and we appreciate the interest parents have shown. For more information about the forum or registration, please contact Kate Arnot (Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader) or Emily Seing (Disability Inclusion Leader) at
