Leadership Report

To flourish in education and in life, the whole child must be nurtured. Every child needs a sense of identity and belonging, and schools should also be places filled with joy, connection, and laughter. This week has been a wonderful celebration of those values. Buddy classes came together to create symbols of belonging, inclusion and diversity, and today’s vibrant display of colour, pride and wide smiles was truly heart-warming to witness.
Harmony Week runs from Monday 16 to Sunday 22 March 2026 and celebrates Australia’s rich cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and sense of belonging. The theme, “Everyone Belongs”, reminds us that every person has a valued place within our community. The week coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March, and many participants wear orange as a symbol of social communication and mutual respect.
With more than 50 cultures represented within our school community, belonging, cultural diversity and inclusiveness are part of everyday life at Magill School. Even so, Harmony Day remains a special moment in our school calendar, a time to pause and actively celebrate who we are, where we come from, and what matters to us as individuals and as a community.
This year was no exception. Our students walked a little taller, proudly sharing their traditional attire and the stories behind it. It was wonderful to see children engaging in conversations, asking thoughtful questions, and learning from one another about the traditions and cultures that make our community so vibrant.
Events like these remind us that when children feel seen, valued, and proud of who they are, they truly flourish.
Have a wonderful weekend. If you are voting here at Magill School tomorrow, be sure to stop by the BBQ, support our fantastic fundraising committee, and pick up the all-important election sausage. In the spirit of inclusion, we’ll have beef, halal and vegetarian options available, so there truly is something for everyone.
Please enjoy a beautiful song performed by Miss Katie's class N3, for assembly.
