From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,
It's hard to believe it, but this is the last newsletter of the term. Next week, with school finishing on Thursday, there will be no level newsletter or assembly. Our first newsletter of next term will be a level newsletter that outlines the learning for the term.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us continue to build a strong community over the past 9 weeks. We hope you all have a fantastic break over Easter and that the weather is kind to us all!
School Values: Community
At Lysterfield Primary School, our value of Community is more than something we talk about, it is something we actively build and nurture together. Strong school communities matter because they create a sense of belonging for students, families and staff. When children feel connected to the people around them, they are more confident, more engaged, and better able to learn and thrive. Equally, when families feel welcomed and involved, it strengthens the partnership between home and school, which has a powerful impact on student success.
Over the course of this term, we have seen our community come to life through a number of special events and opportunities to connect.
Our Family Fun Night was a wonderful example of our Pegasus Family coming together in a relaxed and joyful setting. It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying time together, strengthening relationships and building connections beyond the classroom.
Our Happy Hat Parade will be a celebration of creativity and togetherness. We look
forward to seeing the wonderful hats students have created, many of which will be the result of time spent working with their families. We are also excited to welcome parents and carers to attend, enjoy the parade, and watch the class performances.
Earlier in the term, our Meet the Teacher meetings provided an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect. These conversations are a vital part of building strong partnerships, allowing families to share valuable insights about their child and helping teachers to better understand how to support each student’s learning and wellbeing.
The House Cross Country was another highlight, not only for the enthusiasm and effort of our students, but also for the incredible support from families. Many parents came along to cheer on runners, and we were grateful for those who volunteered their time to help marshal around the course. Events like this simply would not be possible without that support.
Building community is not only about what happens within our school, but also about how we connect with the wider Lysterfield community. This week, I had the opportunity to meet with Marty (President) and Tony (Vice President) from the Lysterfield Wolves Junior Football Club. We discussed how our two organisations can work together to strengthen community connections and create opportunities that benefit the young people in our area. We look forward to continuing this partnership and exploring ways we can support one another.
Thank you to all of our families for the role you play in making our school such a strong, connected and supportive community. It is through these shared experiences and partnerships that our students feel a true sense of belonging.
Have a wonderful holiday,
Adam Wight
Principal
