Senior School Update - A Strong Start to 2026
Students across the Senior School at Hoppers Crossing Secondary College have had an energetic and engaging start to the year, with a range of activities designed to build skills, confidence and connection.
Year 10
Our Year 10 cohort has made a strong and purposeful start to the year beginning with their CAP Challenge which encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones while developing teamwork, resilience and problem-solving skills. The challenge provided an opportunity for students to collaborate, think creatively and build confidence.

Students have also commenced planning for their Term 2 work experience, an important milestone in their career development. Through this process they are exploring areas of interest, learning how to approach employers and gaining an understanding of workplace expectations. This early preparation is helping set students up for meaningful and successful placements.
Year 11
Year 11 students have been actively building both their academic skills and personal wellbeing. A highlight was the Escape Room Challenge, where students worked collaboratively in teams to solve clues, crack codes and “escape” within the time limit. This engaging activity strengthened communication, teamwork and critical thinking, while also fostering positive peer connections.

In PEP classes students participated in a stress management workshop, where they developed practical strategies to manage workload and maintain balance throughout the year. VCE-VM students also took part in a session focused on Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), gaining valuable insight into how to find placements and the role SWL plays in supporting their future pathways. These experiences are equipping students with important skills for both school and life beyond the classroom.
Year 12
ear 12 students have begun their final year with a focus on connection, wellbeing and future planning. A key highlight was the camp at Federation University in Ballarat, which provided a valuable opportunity for students to come together as a cohort while preparing for life beyond school.
Throughout the camp students participated in a range of sessions including a careers workshop offering pathway advice, a wellbeing session focused on managing stress during their final year and a presentation addressing common myths surrounding VCE-VM. Cohort-building activities helped strengthen relationships and foster a sense of unity, while the “Amazing Race” around the university allowed students to explore campus facilities in a fun and interactive way.

Back at school the annual Year 12 vs Teachers Volleyball Match brought plenty of energy and school spirit. Although the students were narrowly defeated the event highlighted the strong sense of community within the college with enthusiastic participation from both staff and students.
Overall senior students at Hoppers Crossing Secondary College have made a fantastic start to 2026, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and a strong commitment to their learning and growth.
