Principals Message

Term 2 is such a busy time in the school calendar and promises to be full of opportunity for our students. Of course, the achievements of our students are not just confined to the school term. Many students are involved in activities where they give their time during the school break to represent our school and local or regional associations, and I would like to acknowledge the time, care and support that our parents and caregivers provide so that the students can participate in their chosen interests.

It is with great pride that we acknowledge and celebrate our students and staff for the tremendous successes and accomplishments that they have achieved across various fields.

Firstly, a huge congratulations to Ms. Greussing, Mr Shady and our dedicated Agriculture students for their outstanding performance with the Angora Goats at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. They had big shoes to fill after the successes of last year and they well and truly filled them, and some with Narrandera High School being named the most successful school with Angora Goats and Mohair! We also achieved highly in the wether events bringing home numerous awards. Isabel Bisby is to be congratulated on achieving first place in the Champion Junior Judge category.

We also extend our congratulations to Noah Tait who is a finalist in the 2026 NSW Training Services School-Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Award for the Riverina Region. Noah’s enthusiasm and commitment to excellence was evident in his formal interview. We wish Noah the best of luck in hopefully progressing to the state awards later in the year.

It has been another very busy Term 1 on the Riverina representative sport calendar, with our school competing in a number of statewide knockouts and individual events. Our Open Girls Basketball, Open Boys Cricket and Open Girls Cricket teams are all still alive and moving towards the State finals of their respective statewide knockouts after winning various South West and Riverina qualifying carnivals. We have also had 29 students gain Riverina representative honours in several sports (some in more than one sport), representing not only us but also the entire Riverina region at State carnivals across NSW. Term 2 looks just as busy as we move into our representative programs and knockouts for even more sports, including our big carnivals in Athletics and Cross Country, with our students continuing to represent themselves and us across the state with our usual Yeti pride and spirit.

Additionally, we celebrate the students who competed in the school cross country carnival. They challenged themselves to achieve their personal best while supporting each other. They showed true sportsmanship. Congratulations to Gillenbah retaining the trophy again this year as the winning house. Thank you to Mr Chappell and his team for their work in organising this event. We look forward to students showing the same enthusiasm in the upcoming Athletics Carnival.

This week our NHS Voice students led the school in our ANZAC Day assembly. They are to be congratulated on their solemn tribute and strong messages about the importance of mateship, unity and gratitude for those who have served. Our school community was respectful and thoughtful as they listened to the messages their peers relayed and showed great maturity throughout the assembly. A big thank you also to Mrs O'Mahoney for organising this event for our school.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  We would also like to acknowledge the ongoing important work of our Aboriginal Education Officers, ALEC, Clontarf and STARS staff who work tirelessly each day to assist our indigenous students by guiding and mentoring them in achieving their best and providing connections and experiences within the community and beyond. We also warmly welcome back Mr Bamblett as our Director of Narrandera Clontarf Academy.

As a school community, we take immense pride in the accomplishments of our students and staff. Their successes not only enrich our school but also inspire their peers and contribute to a culture of excellence.
