Dear families
The last day of school for students this term is Thursday 2 April, and students return on Wednesday 22 April.
We are committed to providing every child with quality teaching and learning that supports and includes all students, no matter their abilities or learning needs. On Monday 20 April and Tuesday 21 April, all teachers and staff at our school, and across every NSW public school, will join together for special training and planning. This includes professional development about inclusive education, focusing especially on supporting students with disabilities and neurodiversity. One of the days will be dedicated to teachers working together to prepare, share ideas, and plan exciting lessons for the term ahead.
These school development days are an important part of making sure every child feels welcomed, supported, and ready to learn. Students do not attend school on these days. We appreciate your support as we continue to grow and improve together, making our school a place where every student can succeed.
Attending school every day is essential for your child’s learning, future career, and life opportunities. We’ve observed that Mondays and Fridays are often the days when most students tend to be absent - but these days are just as important as any other.
Ensuring your child is present on Mondays and Fridays helps them stay connected with their teachers and classmates, keeps their learning on track, and allows them to participate fully in activities and lessons planned for those days.
If your family finds it difficult to get your child ready or motivated for school, especially on Mondays or Fridays, please reach out. We’re here to support your child in making every school day count, and we appreciate working together with you to make this happen.
Let’s continue to support our students to make the most of their time at school - every day matters!
The school holidays are coming up soon. We want to remind everyone how important it is to keep children safe when they are not at school.
Before the holidays start, teachers will talk to students about staying safe. They will cover how to be safe in the community, online, near water, and when riding a scooter or bike. Please look at the safety information in this newsletter and talk to your child about what they have learned. This helps to remind them how to stay safe.
Some people in the community have told us they are worried about students behaving unsafely in parks and shopping centres when there are no adults around. Please talk with your child about being safe and acting responsibly in these places. Make sure an adult is with them whenever they go out.
Thank you for helping us keep all our students safe during the holidays.
This week, our Kindergarten teachers are holding phone interviews with parents to discuss how each child has settled into the start of formal schooling. These conversations are a valuable opportunity for teachers to share observations and for parents to ask questions or raise any concerns.
We recognise the importance of open communication and encourage all parents, from Kindergarten to Year 6, to reach out at any time. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress or have questions, please know that you are welcome to request a phone call or meeting with your child’s class teacher.
As a reminder, the preferred method of communication with teachers, aside from face-to-face and phone calls, is via the school email (meadowbank-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au). Parents are encouraged to use this channel for messaging teachers regarding any matters.
We end the term with our school and families celebrating a range of religious and cultural events. Eid Al Fitr, Naw-Ruz, Rama Navami, Palm Sunday, the First Day of Passover, Good Friday, and Easter are just a few examples that highlight the rich diversity of our community.

I wish all families wonderful celebrations and happy, safe school holidays. I look forward to an exciting Term 2 ahead.
