Year 2 Update
Upcoming learning in Year 2
Here is what the Year 2 students have being doing during the last fortnight of learning and also a sneak peek to what is coming next in year 2.
Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. During reading classes will be using a range of different text to expand their comprehension. We will look at answering questions, making connections and facts and opinion using a range of different mentor texts.
Writing - Students have begun learning persuasive writing and are learning how to state their opinion, provide reasons and evidence to support their opinion. Students are exploring the different vocabulary of persuasive writing.
Maths - Year 2 students have been learning how to tell the time. Students have taken part in a range of hands-on manipulatives looking at o'clock, half past and quarter past.
Students will explore addition they will focus on building their knowledge of addition strategies to solve simple addition sums.
Inquiry - Pioneer Day on Tuesday 28th of May 2024.
Year 2 children will be celebrating the Inquiry Unit of The Past and Present by participating in our Pioneer Day. Come to school dressed up in ‘Olden day’ clothes and get ready to step back to the past. The day will be filled with activities from the past including a classroom experience, cooking and playing games.

News and reminders:
Jumpers: As the weather is changing. Students need to come to school with jumpers and jackets. A friendly reminder to make sure they are named clearly with your child's name and class.
Home Reading: Take home readers have started. We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
