Our Learning

During this fortnight in the 3 and 4 year old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:

Pre-Reading	Identifying name labels when sitting for lunch Recognising letters in print around the room Borrowing books from the ELC Library to read at home Developing narrative skills through sharing of stories
Pre-Writing	Developing a hand preference through drawing and painting experiences Developing and refining fine motor skills through the use of playdough, threading, scissors, tap-tap boards and clay.
STEM	Explore the concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle through creating instruments and art with boxes, tubes and other donated items Developing an understanding of AB patterns
Inquiry	Exploring the Unit of Inquiry: How we express ourselves through art Pipe cleaner exploration-Twisting, bending, shaping, joining Recognizing which brush size/shape to use for desired marking Introducing tools and slip while working with clay Discovering 3D art constructs with paper
Social & emotional learning	Identifying emotions through artwork Zones of regulation Learning to read body language of those around them Exploring strategies to support regulation

Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
