Education Week & Mental Health Awareness Week

13th - 17th May

Next week we will celebrate Education Week with the theme being ‘A Spotlight on STEM’.  Additionally, it is also Mental Health Awareness Week and the school will acknowledge this equally important event which centres around the theme ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’.

Over the course of the week, all classes will participate in a STEM challenge and a tailored social & emotional lesson complementing the theme.  Students will also be invited to participate in numerous physical lunchtime activities on selected days.

Furthermore, students are encouraged to attend a Movement Challenge on the synthetic oval from 8:30am – 8:45am on Tuesday 14th May to promote the importance of physical exercise.  Students will be able to collect house points for every lap of the running track they complete.

To round off the week we encourage parents to attend our assembly next Friday 17th May at 2:30pm to hear all about the events undertaken.

Curriculum Day

Curriculum Day for Term 2 is Wednesday 22nd May. There will be no school for students on this day. OSHC will be available.

Prep 2025

Do you know someone who is looking for their child to start school in 2025? Don't forget to remind them that applications are open now and close on 26th July.

Congratulations

A big congratulations to our Cross Country runners who attended the inter-school cross country event on Monday 6th May. I am so proud of the way our students literally put their best foot forward and competed against other schools following our school values of resilience, kindness and respect. Well done to all competitors who made it through to the next round.

Education Support Day

16th May

On Thursday 16th May we will celebrate the hard work and achievements of our fabulous Education Support (ES) team. Our ES team are made up of administration, integration, wellbeing, OSHC and in class support staff. Their wide ranging abilities help to ensure that our school can function so productively and positively. We are extremely grateful for the job they all do and how much they support and contribute to the success of Hillsmeade PS. If you see an ES staff member around, don't hesitate to say thank you!

Mothers and Special Others

We have had a great week preparing for a special day for families on Sunday. The stall was a huge success, with many fabulous items on sale. We rounded off the week with our annual special Breakfast Club where students were able to bring their mother or special other along for a little treat to start their day. What a huge turnout we had, despite the rain! Thank you all for coming along.

Wishing you all a terrific weekend ahead!
