CSPS Drum Corps

ANZAC Day Parade

At 0800 hrs on Thursday 25th April, over 45 members (including attachments) of The Caulfield South Primary School Drum Corps formed up beside St.Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne in preparation for their participation in the annual ANZAC Day Parade. This is the 25th year that The Corps has participated in the March and resplendent in their new uniforms they were raring to go.

Firstly accompanying The Royal Australian Airforce Vietnam Veterans, The Corps were loudly applauded by the large crowd at they marched down St.Kilda Road towards the Shrine of Remembrance. Roundly praised by the Veterans they were accompanying The Corps kept perfect beat, moving as one as they gave the Salute to The Eternal Flame on the forecourt of The Shrine. After playing on the forecourt, The Corps were given the order to fall out and on doing so, shouting The Corps war cry “DRUM CORPS LEADS THE WAY WHOOOAAAAR “ They headed towards the bus that would return them to the start of the March to begin their second run. With no break,  The Corps marched down to their start point to begin again, this time accompanying The World War Two banners who no longer have any veterans left for them to March with. With wild applause from the ever increasing crowd ( building because of the Collingwood v Essendon football match) the Corp performed faultlessly with many Veterans, War Widows and family members praising them for their dogged determination and meticulous presentation. With huge mentions on the ABC broadcasts on both radio and television and much footage of The Corps used by the major networks, The Corps outdid themselves with their tireless energy and unbounded enthusiasm.

Thank you to our School leadership team and our very supportive Year 5 and 6 teachers. Thank you also to the many parents, guardians and family members who came along to support The Corps on this very memorable day.  A huge thank you to  our parent representative Ellie for her indefatigable efforts with our new uniforms and gaiters.

Drum Corps is back on parade on Friday mornings at 7.30am at the School Campus.

The Drum Corps motto is “We will always be there for you, we will never let you down”. The actions of The Corps on ANZAC Day really do exemplify those words.

Drum Corps leads the way whoooaaaar!

Mr Hood,

Master of The Corps.
