Principal Report

Term Two has got off to a very positive start with students returning to school from the term one holidays ready to learn. It been great to see our students engaged in their classes and participating in the extracurricular activities that our school has on offer. The House Cross Country was a great success with high numbers of student participation. It was fantastic to work with Rochester Primary School and St Joseph’s to host our local Primary Schools who joined us to complete their cross country event. Thanks to Phoebe Cuttriss for organising it and all staff and students for making this a great day.

On Tuesday 24th April our School Captains, Brodie, Jude, Maddie and Tara led a wonderful whole school assembly to commemorate ANZAC Day and acknowledge the sacrifices made by our service men and women. Thank you to Caroline Bell who organised the assembly and worked with the captains to prepare for it.  Our Captains also represented the College at the Rochester RSL ANZAC day service, participating in the march and laying a wreath on behalf of the Rochester Secondary College school community.

Thank you to all the families who attended our Student/Family Teacher interviews in the last week of term one. Your involvement is crucial to your child's success, and it was wonderful to see such strong support from our school community.

As we move forward into term two,  I want to remind families that my door is always open. I encourage you to visit the school or call me if you'd like to discuss any aspect of your child's schooling at Rochester Secondary College. All feedback is important as we are always wanting to improve, and I'm here to listen and support you in any way I can.

In term three, Rochester Secondary College will undertake a School Review to inform a new Strategic Plan that identifies our priorities and future directions for the next four years. The self-evaluation of the previous four years has commenced. Staff have been analysing data, reflecting on the curriculum, and the highlights. In the coming weeks, students and parents/carers will be asked to reflect on what our school does well, what we would like to see our school achieving in the next four years, and how we can reach our goals. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the review process.

Cheers,

Matt Koutroubas
