Today is a great day to be you!

Farewell to our Year 6s

With one week remaining of the 2024 school year, we are preparing to say goodbye to our amazing cohort of Year 6 students. The high majority of this group have been at Rangeview for the past seven years - it's incredible how quickly this time flies by!

It has been an absolute pleasure watching the Year 6s grow and mature across the year, and they have been fantastic role models for the rest of the school.

We absolutely consider all Year 6s to be leaders of the school - badge or no badge - however I have personally loved working really closely with the Student Leaders this year. This group of 38 students have shown such great commitment to their roles across - our Friday morning leadership meetings have had a 95% attendance rate across the year, they have represented the school at many different events, and they have performed all of their specific leadership duties with care, compassion and determination. I have been so proud of their efforts.

Year 6 Graduation is coming up next Wednesday evening at Box Hill Town Hall and we can't wait to send this group of students off to the big wide world, well and truly equipped to thrive in any situation they may face in the future.

All the best, Year 6s!

Christmas Carols

What a festive and fantastic night we had on Wednesday at The Round!

Check out some great action from the night...

Holiday Screen Time

Over the break and without the structure of school from 9:00am - 3:30pm on weekdays, many children will no doubt beg and plead for more time on screens at home - this is only natural (and I am expecting it from my own kids, too!).

Managing (and limiting) screen time can have a hugely positive effect on overall wellbeing. We would encourage you to discuss agency here with your children; screen time is absolutely okay, but work with your children on balance and moderation. Discuss with them expectations before they get on the screen; set time limits, or even introduce a reward system - for example, children might 'earn' screen time, after spending an hour outside, or after going on a bike ride, or participating in some arts and crafts to promote creativity and problem solving.

Building a consistent system will help limit any issues or arguments over screen time. Set clear rules and expectations, and most importantly, monitor what your children are viewing. Despite all the wonderful work classes have completed in the 'eSmart' space this year, we are still seeing students make poor choices online. This is all part of their learning; but setting strong examples at home is the best way to help young children learn how to behave online.

Goodbye for 2024!

What a year it has been at Rangeview!

I would like to finish off this year simply by expressing my gratitude to you - our wider school community - for your support and teamwork across 2024. We are so proud of how we function as a community and the partnerships between school and home are so incredibly important to us. Thank you for working with us so positively across the year.

I hope you all have a very safe and relaxing school holiday period. Enjoy your Christmas and New Years, and we can't wait to see you back here at the end of January next year!
