This Sunday's Gospel

Fourth Sunday of Advent- Sunday December 22

Luke 1:39-45

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke

Why should it happen that I am honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord?

Mary set out and went as quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? For the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’

A beginning point for discussion of this week's Gospel with children:

Who do you know who is expecting a baby?

How are they preparing for the birth?

How are we preparing for the birth of Jesus?

Advent Liturgies

A whole school Liturgy will be held tomorrow, Wednesday December 18, at 9:15am in the school hall.  All are welcome to attend.

Year 6 Graduation Mass

Congratulations to our Year 6 students who celebrated their last Mass at St Joseph's last night.  Thank you to those who attended the Mass.  We give thanks to all those who have helped them throughout their primary school lives and we wish them God’s blessings as they journey onward in a life of love, faith, learning and service.

Wishing all families and friends of St Joseph’s Primary School and Parish a peaceful, happy and holy Christmas.  May we go and be strengthened in faith by the love of our God.
