Positive Environment
As we approach the end of another remarkable year, we take a moment to reflect on the achievements, growth, and connections we've made throughout 2024. It has been a year of resilience, teamwork, and progress, and we are proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. From community milestones to personal successes, the year has been filled with unforgettable moments. December serves as a time to celebrate those triumphs, acknowledge the contributions of everyone who helped make this year so special, and express gratitude for the continued support from our community. As we look ahead, we are filled with excitement and anticipation for the opportunities and challenges the new year will bring. There’s so much to look forward to, and we can't wait to embrace 2025 with renewed energy and ambition. Here is what’s happened since the last newsletter:
9E Lifesaving Victoria Excursion to Altona Beach
Last term, you may recall an email regarding 9E’s exciting opportunity to participate in water safety workshops with Life Saving Victoria, generously sponsored by Bendigo Bank. Students put their learning into action during a practical excursion to Altona Beach. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, they demonstrated fantastic enthusiasm and resilience, fully embracing the experience.
We are thrilled to share that our school was selected for a special presentation from Bendigo Bank, where they presented a $15,000 cheque, which made this invaluable program possible (see first picture below). During the day, students gained essential skills for staying safe around water, which they can now pass on to family and friends.
We’re excited about the potential of this partnership continuing, with the hope that some of these students may even become swim instructors and lifeguards in the future—stay tuned for more updates!
A huge thank you to Lily, Kaw, and Mille for their support in making the day a success!
School Sport Victoria (SSV) Bowling and State Finals
WCC had 16 students from 7-11 participate in the first SSV 10 Pin Bowling competition. The students had a great time, unfortunately we were beaten by Manor Lakes on the day. But we can celebrate coming 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The All Abilities Team got through to state championships
Thanks to Ms Costa and Suni for the day, it was a great day with a lot of fun had. It was really good to have students participate in a school sport team who have never competed before.
On Friday, December 6th, our two qualifying teams competed in the highly anticipated State Finals, showcasing their skills and determination. The All Abilities team put on an outstanding performance, finishing in an impressive second place overall—an incredible achievement that reflects their hard work and dedication. Meanwhile, the Senior team also demonstrated their strength and teamwork, securing a fantastic fifth place in the competition. This is a remarkable result, and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort put forth by all the students involved. Congratulations to both teams for their perseverance, sportsmanship, and commitment. Well done to everyone who participated and supported them along the way!
Upcoming Events: Adventure Park Excursion and Lara Pool
We participated in some thrilling events in the final weeks of the year.
Adventure Park Excursion: Our students are in for an unforgettable adventure at the Adventure Park excursion. This exciting day out promises a mix of thrilling rides, water slides, and plenty of fun. It's the perfect way for students to unwind, make lasting memories with friends, and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. The Adventure Park excursion will be a highlight of the end of year program, offering an exciting blend of adventure and laughter.
Lara Pool: We’re gearing up for a trip to the Lara Pool excursion, where students will have the opportunity to cool off, swim, and engage in some friendly water-based activities. We’re excited for a day of splash-filled fun and are confident it will be a perfect way to wrap up the school year.
As we near the end of the year, it’s a great time to reflect on all the memorable moments we've shared as a school community. From exciting events to everyday moments of collaboration and growth, it's been a year to remember. Let’s continue to support and celebrate each other, making the most of the opportunities ahead. Together, we’ve built something special, and we’re excited to finish the year strong with a sense of pride and unity. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year.
