WCC Student Representation at AVID Summer Institute
The month continued to be an inspiring celebration of AVID excellence at our college. On December 4th, we proudly witnessed two of our alumni participating in a AVID summer Institute, a three day educator professional learning at Victoria University, Melbourne campus, discussing their remarkable AVID journeys. Kiana Strong, Class of 2019 and Hassan Nur Hussein Abdi Class of 2018, spoke about the skills they gained through AVID, their achievements since leaving school, and how they continue to apply AVID strategies in their personal and professional lives. Their stories were both inspiring and motivating, highlighting the lasting impact of AVID on their success.
The excitement continued on December 5th, when five of our current students had the unique opportunity to engage with teachers from across Australia and the United States. These students confidently shared their AVID experiences, explained how Cornell Notes support their learning, and showcased their exceptional organizational skills using their AVID binders. Their presentations were met with admiration and served as a testament to their hard work and dedication.
We are incredibly proud of our students and alumni for representing our college with such confidence and enthusiasm. Their contributions demonstrate the transformative power of the AVID program and the strength of our community.
Thank you for your continued support of the AVID program and our students’ educational journeys.
Celebrating Achievement at Awards Afternoon
The Awards Afternoon held on Tuesday 17th December, was a wonderful occasion where we celebrated the remarkable achievements of our students. Witnessing parents rejoicing in their children's successes was truly heartwarming. Congratulations to all our award winners and credit to every student for their resilience, perseverance, and solid determination throughout the year. Each student's dedication to striving for their best deserves recognition. In the words of Colin Powell, "A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work."
