Principal's Message

By Jo Jolly

Hello and welcome to week 4 – what a wonderful week this has been (aside from the weather!) for Parkhill, where we are busy launching into production mode. Congratulations to Marinda, Buni, students and staff for creating what will surely be one of our best concerts to date! I can’t wait for all our families and extended community to join us on the concert evenings and see what a great production Parkhill can put on. Tickets will be on sale soon – keep an eye out on Compass to book yours.

Building Update

A fortnight ago, the VSBA and our builders met onsite to discuss the final stages of our landscaping build. The program has been delayed with the community shelter because of the cladding supplies. This in turn has impacted our ability to open the staff carpark and finalise the landscaping between the portables and the oval. Minor rectification work continues and the VSBA are liaising with the architects and builders to get this work finalised as soon as possible. Thanks again to our community for your patience while these works are finishing up.

Preliminary Attitudes to School Survey results

Our preliminary Attitudes to School Survey results are in, with definite highlights across a number of factors. School wide highlights include:

  • Students have high expectations for success (94.3% positive)
  • Student’s sense of inclusion (88.5%) and self-regulation/goal setting (86.8%) factors are both high
  • Advocate at school factor (85.7%) shows most students have an adult at school who cares about and listens to them.

Factors that will be a focus for our school next year will be around respect for self, others and teachers, as well as student voice and agency. While none of these factors have dipped below out Annual Implementation Plan targets, these areas were lower particularly with Year 5s. As an overall snapshot however, students feel included and connected, as well as a high sense of pride for being a student at Parkhill PS.

Herald Sun Report – Parkhill’s NAPLAN highlights

Following the public release of NAPLAN data, I was pleased this week to be interviewed by the Herald Sun regarding our success this year. I want to thank all our teaching, support staff, and students for this wonderful result and for enacting our shared strategic vision for both cultural and academic excellence at our school. While the NAPLAN vacillates and will change over the coming years for us, 2026 is the fruition of the work done here for some time and this is something to enjoy and celebrate now.
