Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 4 Leongatha Primary School

Dear Leongatha Primary School families,

Welcome to Week 4! It has been wonderful to see our students continuing to settle so confidently into school life and strengthen their routines as the term progresses. The positive energy and sense of belonging across the school continues to be a pleasure to see.

We would like to remind families that Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 February. These interviews provide a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, share insights, and work together to support your child’s learning and wellbeing. We appreciate your ongoing partnership and look forward to welcoming families across these two days.

On Wednesday 18 February, Prep PEAP testing will continue. This process helps us gain valuable information about each child’s early learning and development, including literacy, numeracy, and social skills. The results support our teachers in planning targeted and meaningful learning experiences to ensure every Prep student gets the best possible start to their schooling.

On Friday 20 February, our students will participate in District Swimming. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to represent our school, demonstrate perseverance, and enjoy a day of healthy competition and school spirit. We wish all participating students the very best and look forward to cheering them on.

We would also like to highlight the importance of regular attendance. Attending school consistently helps children form strong friendships, feel connected to our school community, and develop positive learning habits from the very beginning. Early attendance builds confidence and a sense of belonging that supports students throughout their schooling journey.

Establishing positive routines both at school and at home is another important part of supporting student learning. We encourage children to assist with packing their school bags, practise their reading, writing, and counting at home, and bring curiosity to their learning. Asking questions, exploring ideas, and being curious are key ingredients in developing a lifelong love of learning.

As the weather remains warm, we remind families of the importance of sun safety. Please ensure students are wearing a hat each day to protect themselves while learning and playing outdoors. Thank you for supporting our SunSmart practices.

We also encourage students to continue engaging in regular physical movement and making healthy food choices, as these are key ingredients for overall health, wellbeing, and readiness to learn. Active bodies and healthy minds help children feel their best each day.

It has been fantastic to see so many students choosing active transport to travel to and from school. We love seeing students using the pedestrian crossing safely, wearing their helmets, and storing their bikes neatly in the secure bike racking area. These safe and responsible choices are a credit to our students and families.

Special note: Whole school Assembly will run this week in the PAC from 2.20pm onwards

Finally, thank you to our parents and carers for your ongoing support. Your partnership with us plays a vital role in creating a safe, positive, and welcoming school environment for all.

We look forward to another great week at Leongatha Primary School.

Kind regards,

Warwick
