Culture, Excellence & Growth

Mr. Chris Spencer - Deputy Principal

As the term progresses, there is a strong sense of momentum and purpose across the College. A wide range of experiences — spiritual, academic, vocational and co-curricular — are already shaping a positive and focused start to the year. Each opportunity reflects our ongoing commitment to culture, excellence and growth in all aspects of College life.

Our Year 12 students recently participated in their Retreat, an important moment in their final year. The experience provided space for reflection and connection. At the same time, our Year 8 students embraced the challenges of camp at Waratah Beach. Through shared experiences and new challenges, students developed resilience, strengthened relationships, and built confidence beyond the classroom.

We also gathered as a full College community for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy, Opening Mass, and Achievers' Assembly. Beginning the season of Lent together and celebrating the achievements of our students set a clear tone for the year — one grounded in faith, unity and high expectations. These moments reinforce the importance of coming together as a community, recognising both collective identity and individual accomplishment.

School Sport Victoria (SSV) competitions are currently underway, with students proudly representing the College. Participation in interschool sport provides valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, perseverance and responsibility, while reinforcing the pride students take in representing our community.

Our Internal and External VET programs continue to offer purposeful and practical learning pathways. Through these programs, students gain industry-recognised qualifications and authentic workplace skills while completing their secondary education. These experiences strengthen engagement and ensure that learning remains relevant, rigorous and aligned with future aspirations.

At the centre of all these opportunities is the work happening in classrooms each day. Teachers are investing significant time and care into designing engaging, intentional curricula that support both growth and achievement. Through thoughtful planning, targeted intervention and collaborative practice, staff are working to ensure high-quality learning experiences for every student. The support provided by our Learning Support Officers in classrooms, alongside the careful coordination of our Education Support team behind the scenes, further strengthens the inclusive culture we strive to uphold.

The early weeks of the year have demonstrated the strength of our community and the shared commitment to excellence. By continuing to provide meaningful opportunities and maintaining high standards across all areas of College life, we will continue to build a community grounded in respect, responsibility, courage and wisdom.
