Teaching & Learning in STEM

Hello everyone,

My name is Ms T and I am the new STEM teacher at Christ our Holy Redeemer. Over the last 2 weeks, students have been learning about ‘team work’ and how we need to be able to ‘collaborate’ with each other in order to complete tasks. Students were given the challenge of using different STEM resources to build/create known objects with a partner or small group. Some of the resources students used were pattern blocks, Duplo, playdough, paper cups, dominoes and LEGO. Each resource had its own set of challenges, e.g, the dominoes would topple if someone knocked the table or the paper cups would fall if they weren’t lined up correctly. Students were encouraged to push through the challenges or to problem solve in a different way in order to be successful with the resources. It was great to see everyone having a go and doing their best.
