This is a reminder to collect Peninsula forms at the Sports Office to nominate for TCS trials.
Our JSS Teams kicked off their first round of friendly matches against MacKillop with some great wins in Girls' soccer, Boys' soccer, Boys' basketball, and Netball.
Congratulations To...
Lucas Williams, Eloise Scherer, Shylah Jago, Billie Pisani, and Avaliese Krause, who represented Peninsula at the State Cross Country School championships last week. A special mention to Lucas, who demonstrated great sportsmanship during the race as he helped one of his fellow Peninsula teammates to the finish line (supporting them for over 300m).
Congratulations To...
Alana Mehes who was named vice-captain of the Australian U19 women’s Underwater Hockey team, which will compete in Malaysia next week in the 2024 Underwater Hockey Age Group World Championships.

Blake, played in the Division 1 team and secured an impressive 3rd place overall in the state!
Tristan, Jai, and Logan were selected to play within the Division 2 team and achieved 8th place overall.
All the boys showcased remarkable skills and determination, competing against the state's best under challenging conditions, with temperatures dropping to 6 degrees at times!
Congratulations To...
Anisha Sandher who has been selected for the U15 Queensland cricket girls team, which will play in the national championships from 31 August to 7 September. Anisha was also awarded the Curtis Pitt Female Player of the Year for her club earlier this year.
St Mary's Head Coach, Miss Lo Grande, is currently in Nottingham, England, representing Australia as part of the referee's contingent officiating at the 2024 Touch Football World Cup! We are fortunate to have such a talented coach!
CAIRNS MARATHON & COMMUNITY RUN FESTIVAL
What an incredible Sunday morning we had at the Cairns Marathon Festival! 61 staff, students, and alumni tackled various distances at the event, making our College the second-largest school and third-largest team overall!
We were so pleased to have such a strong community presence as participants, volunteers, and supporters at the event. Our comradery and supportive culture certainly shone through. Congratulations to everyone who ran, especially those who ran PBs or completed a first-time distance! Thank you to everyone involved.
The SMCC Run Squad also had huge success at the event. Year 10 students Mischa Roberts, Tyler Price, and Max Hagedoorn completed their first half marathon. We also had many students run the 10km and 5km, with almost all students running PBs over these distances! Students have been training consistently for six months for this event, and it was wonderful to see their hard work pay off.
