Principal Report

We have enjoyed such a positive and re-energised start to Term 3, despite the wet weather. This week I have enjoyed visiting classes and seeing students engaged in quality learning tasks, positive interactions and teamwork, leadership roles and a very calm and orderly learning environment in every classroom. Staff in all year levels are encouraging all students to be the best learners they can be through our School Wide Positive Behaviour approach, building resilience, self-esteem, optimism and pride in their achievements.

Again this term we have gained a number of new students across the school. We welcome all our new families to ARPS and know you will feel connected and supported in our cohesive and dynamic school community.

Term 3 is traditionally a term of consolidation, building on knowledge and embedding good/new practices to enhance learning for all. This term, students and staff will  be looking closely at our whole school curriculum programs and assessment schedule, to further enhance good practice and knowledge of the curriculum. We will also be focusing on refining our whole school Positive Behaviour practices, offering further opportunities for student leaders to demonstrate great role modelling and building school pride.

This term we also have THREE camps- Year 5&6, Year 3&4 and the Year 2 sleepover. These wonderful learning and social skills development opportunities for our students which I know they will enjoy and reminder for a long time.

We have the Victorian State School Spectacular performances in September AND all the planning and actions leading up to our bi-annual Fun Fiesta occur this term. I’m sure everyone can see how important it will be to be at school every single day and be sure every minute of learning time available during the term is used for targeted teaching and learning.

During the holiday break, several of our facilities upgrades progressed, including carpet laying in various locations, painting to several doors and various locations, and the whole school term cleaning process (including steam cleaning of carpets). It was certainly busy onsite whilst the students enjoyed their break.

Term 3 promises to be another great term filled with challenging and enjoyable learning opportunities, stimulating excursions, camps, incursions and many opportunities to join in extra-curricular activities.
