We can’t believe we are almost halfway through Term 3!

These last few weeks have been extra busy!  We have had a great deal of events that have brought together our school community in many marvellous ways. All learning centres have done an exceptional job participating in these recent activities. Some of the highlights from these past few weeks are our inspiring Mini-Olympics, a phenomenal assembly for Principal’s Day, and a captivating performance by Sean Choolburra. And we can’t forget our astounding netball team who participated in a whole day of matches in the Zone District Finals Competition.

We can’t believe how much has happened in such a short amount of time!

Mini-Olympics

As I’m sure you all know, the Paris Olympics have officially been taking place for the past two weeks. While that has been happening in Europe, we have had our very own Springvale Rise Mini Olympics! The opening ceremony started with every house happily parading around the basketball court. Our two mascots, Ayz and Huzaifa, fired up the crowd with their amazing dance moves. The Olympic Flame was then passed from FLC all the way to the SLC representative who then with the help of our mascots, lit the flame. Finally, two specially selected students were given the honour of raising the Olympic flag.

After the opening ceremony, the games officially began! Even though it was very competitive, it was wonderful to see everybody collaborating and being respectful towards each other. What great sportsmanship! Finally came the moment everybody was waiting for…Mr Kullar announced the winner for the 2024 Springvale Rise Mini Olympics…....SMITH HOUSE! Congratulations to Smith House on an amazing performance!

Principal’s Day

Every year the school has a special day to acknowledge the very hardworking and dedicated principals of our school, it's called Principal’s Day! On the 2nd of August we commemorated the work the principals do for us. Our school hosted a very special assembly just for Principal's Day. The principals were escorted into the hall, where they were showered with countless gifts, words of thanks and handmade flowers to show our appreciation for everything they do. Unfortunately, Mrs Karup couldn't attend the assembly but luckily, we had a laminated picture of her which we displayed in her absence. One student from each learning centre prepared heartfelt speeches and presented the principals with their gifts. We also had an amazing slideshow and videos which were put together by our talented SLC working party. From making sure our learning environment is a safe and happy place, to giving our teachers the green light to organise extraordinary incursions and excursion; everything our principals do enhances our learning. We are all so grateful to have such fabulous principals at our school, and we hope that they know how much we appreciate them!

Sean Choolburra Performance

On the 29th of August, we had the privilege of hosting Indigenous artist Sean Choolburra! It was a very compelling and entertaining hour. Sean blessed us with a captivating show about Indigenous customs and practices. He incorporated dance, stories and his engaging energy into his performances to educate and inform his audience. Some lucky students were even able to join him on stage! His charismatic and unpredictable personality bewildered and fascinated the audience.  Sean travels all over Australia, so we were very fortunate to have him come by our school.  We are very grateful that we had the opportunity to meet Sean!

 Zone Winter Sports

After a tough grand final, soccer unfortunately didn’t make it to the Zone final. However, both Netball A and B teams made it through to Zone through passion and dedication! Unfortunately, our A team lost both matches by just 1 point. The B team won 1 match and lost 1. Even though we did not progress to the next stage, it was still an amazing learning experience for everyone involved. We interviewed some students about how they felt.

Ashvin - “When I first walked in I felt nervous and excited.”

Shakira - “I felt scared and intimidated by the opponents we were facing but felt very proud too.”

Well done to both teams for making it to Zone Finalists!

It has only been a few weeks since the term started, but these few weeks have already been jam packed with awesome activities and lots of fun. But that’s not all! We still have way more to go in the rest of the term. The SLC are looking forward to their Puffing Billy excursion, Summer Sports matches and the SLC Wellington Performance. And don’t forget Swimming! There are also many other exciting events for the other learning centres.

How lucky are we? As we continue to say… Springvale Rise Primary School is the place to be!!! Well done everyone! Keep striving to achieve your personal best so you are kicking goals in all learning areas!
