Snapshots from Springvale Campus

Springvale Campus playground has been made even "more fun" with the addition of three brand new cubby houses. The students have been using their imagination and engaging in pretend play with their friends. We have had a bakery, a flower shop and a McDonalds drive through just to name a few of teh role plays that we have witnessed first hand. What a great learning and play experience to get involved in! I can’t wait to see what else will be on offer next time I am out there.

We have also held a few special events over the last fortnight including the SRPS Mini Olympics. I was away on long service leave but I hear that there were mascots, the lighting of the Olympic Flame as well as lots of exciting events that the teams competed in. As much fun as visiting Europe was, I wish I was here for this special day. I must plan my holidays a bit better next time.

Last Tuesday, our school also experienced an incredible cultural, performance with Sean Choolburra. Sean is a well-known comedian and performer who shared fascinating information with staff and students about his Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, as well as some brilliant pop-culture references. Sean shared various artefacts and he engaged everyone with Aboriginal language, songs and dance. Sean finished his performance with a dance off, sharing his incredible dance moves including a moon walk. Everyone was very impressed!

Last week we also celebrated Principal’s Day. Our principal team enjoyed a special assembly and were showered with beautiful handmade gifts and words of thanks. But just because I wasn’t here for the special day doesn’t mean I missed out on all the fun. I got my very own surprise assembly this week as soon as I returned. The effort the students and their teachers put into this special surprise made us all a little teary and very grateful to be part of such a wonderful school community like ours. A big thank you to all the parents for raising such caring and kind children.

Hope everyone continues to have a fabulous term in the weeks to come with lots of fun and learning.

Take care!
