Year Four - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

Welcome back for another fantastic term of learning.

Already students have dived into learning around multiplication, the art of puppetry, building compound sentences with a coordinating conjunction and continued to read the picture story book, Waves.

Next week we will be learning about...

Mathematics: We are going to be continuing our learning on multiplication and division, in particular, numbers divisible by 2,5 or 10, multiplicative sequences and number combinations.

English: We will be continuing on with reading our book, Waves by Donna Rawlins. Students will continue to develop their understanding of compound sentences and learn some new vocabulary; such as numb, teem and treasured.

Religious Education: Students will learn about the Passover and how this was a sacred Jewish feast. During this learning students will come to understand that the last Passover which Jesus celebrated with his followers became his Last supper and the First Eucharist.

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR: Students will participate in a pre-assessment for this term's topic on “Gender and Identity.” They will then begin to identify and share some of their different interests that make up their identity or individuality.

Auslan: Students will be learning how to generate different ways to translate verbs by showing the actions. Some signs they will be learning are put your hat on, where is your jumper?, open the writing book, open the door and so much more.

Reminders

Tuesday 30th July - First Communion: Parent Formation from 6:45 – 8:00pm at the Church (Parents Only). If you didn't attend the first one, this is another opportunity to attend. Please contact the Parish Office to confirm your attendance.

School Photos are on the 31st of July.

From Monday 5th to Thursday 15th of August, students will be attending swimming lessons at Kingswim. Please make sure you sign all permission forms so that your child is able to attend these lessons.

Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st of August - First Communion: Parent/Child Workshop from 6:45 – 8:00pm at the Church

Bethany Community Mass is to be held on Wednesday the 28th August. Families are welcome to join us.

With the current weather in mind - jumpers, jackets/coats and warm apparel is important during recess and lunch plays. Sometimes students may get dirty or wet. It would be strongly encouraged to pack some spare clothing items in their bags, as a just in case.

This Weeks Learning in Photos

In Integrated Studies this term, students will be learning about the performing arts through different puppets. Students are starting off with hand puppets (sock puppets) and how these puppets can be used to create a dramatic play.

Last term, students attend the performance of "The One Who Planted Trees." Here are some photos of the students prior to the show starting.
