YEAR 8 STEAM

The Year 8 STEAM class have been studying earthquakes, and yesterday were issued a challenge to build a structure (using only toothpicks and marshmallows) that they thought could withstand a “jelly” earthquake.

There were lots of different designs (and then modifications) whilst testing each on top of a trembling tray of jelly to simulate an earthquake. Students may have to rethink what designs worked well in this situation, and what designs would work best in an earthquake zone.
