PREP NEWS
The Prep children have had a great start to Term Three!
They had so much fun participating in the MPS Olympics Day on Friday.
It was lovely to see the children dressed up in green and gold, and waving the flags they had made to represent a country. They were so excited to spend a whole day with their buddy/buddies and had so much fun participating in a range of exciting events. Some of the events included vortex throwing, egg and spoon races and sack racing.
It was great to see everyone having a go and trying something new.
We have completed a range of Olympics-themed activities during class this week, and the Preps have been particularly interested in keeping up to date with the medal tally! It has been wonderful to hear that many families are watching and talking about the Olympic events. The children have been incredibly excited to be hosting the Potato Olympics! We decorated our potato athletes and chose a country for them to represent. The potatoes competed in a range of events such as the potato and spoon race, gymnastic and shotput. The children had a ball and it was wonderful to see them getting into the Olympic spirit!
The children have continued to enjoy our wonderful mindfulness sessions with Fiona from Mindfulness 4 Kids. This week they were explored visualising a safe and peaceful place and tuning into their senses. Children did some breathing exercises, yoga poses, and drew beautiful pictures of their peaceful place. The Preps have continued to enjoy their weekly Perceptual Motor Program sessions and always look forward to the activities.
Last week we explored shapes and noticed where we can see shapes in the real world. The children enjoyed making shapes out of their bodies and spying 3D objects around our school.
