Head of Primary
I had the immense pleasure of joining the 3/4 camp to ADANAC in July, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The camp was filled with opportunities for collaboration, teamwork, socialising, and mutual support, making it an incredible time for everyone involved.
The selfless dedication of our parent volunteers was truly inspiring. Their commitment ensured the safety and smooth running of our camp, for which we are deeply grateful. Each parent volunteer led their activity group with care and dedication, making sure every student felt heard, supported, and encouraged. Their efforts have left a lasting impact on our students, creating moments of joy and learning that we will always cherish.
At Bayside, we take great pride in our strong tradition of partnership with parents. Whether it’s at camps, excursions, classroom activities, stalls, markets, sports carnivals, or musical productions, none of these experiences would be possible without the incredible support of our parents. And that’s you!
Another important way we partner together is through Parent-Teacher Conferences. These will take place on Tuesday 27 August (3:40 pm - 8:00 pm), and Wednesday 28 August (10:00 am - 7:00 pm), with Wednesday being a student-free day.
You have the option to attend your conference online or in person, though I highly encourage face-to-face meetings if possible. These conferences are a valuable opportunity for us to partner together with your child’s teachers, gaining a deeper understanding of their progress and collaborating to support their learning journey. Please come prepared with your questions and hopes. Our teachers are eager to provide an accurate and authentic picture of your child’s development and the next steps in their learning.
God bless,
Mrs Danielle Lupi, Head of Primary
Prep Half Way Mark
As the year swiftly progresses, it has been a joy to witness our wonderful Prep students making such remarkable strides. Many began the year with a heart full of eagerness to learn, and they have embraced challenges with enthusiasm. Their knowledge has grown, their resilience has strengthened, and their confidence has blossomed, reflecting Philippians 4:13, "I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
Students have created new friendships and celebrated each other’s success, creating a caring community within our classroom, in line with Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
We are proud of how the students have adapted to classroom routines and approached new experiences with such positive attitudes. While occasional moments of homesickness still arise, children are quickly redirected to engaging activities that bring smiles back to their faces.
Throughout this year, we have enjoyed reading numerous books together, sharing our own writings in various genres, and participating in Show and Tell, fostering the creativity and expression supported by Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
The students have also had fun playing and learning with the diverse toys and equipment in the Prep rooms. Our math groups, which combine both Prep classes, have worked exceptionally well together, fostering a sense of collaboration and enjoyment.
Recently, we eagerly celebrated 100 days of Prep, with both prep classes joining their buddy class in making 100-day lanterns and participating in various fun activities. Prep M and 5/6 W commemorated the occasion by running a combined 100 laps of the oval, a great example of Bayside teamwork.
Nicole and I extend our gratitude to the Prep families for their continued support throughout the year, not only with keeping up with homework but also in partnering with us to support the students through all these new experiences. We eagerly anticipate seeing the continued growth and progress of our students for the remainder of the year, trusting in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

1/2 - A Wonderful Place to Be!
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: the Lord God made them all. Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, God made their glowing colours, and made their tiny wings.
The words of this hymn, written in 1884 by Cecil Frances Alexander, have echoed through our year 1/2 classrooms. We have had a wonderful start to the term. Our Integrated topic, ‘Living Things,’ has sparked curiosity and wonder about the magnificent world our Lord has made for us to care for. Students have enjoyed researching various animals and their needs. Here are some fascinating facts that have astounded the students:
- Fleas can jump 350 times its body length.
- Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards.
- Crocodiles cannot stick their tongue out.
- Starfish do not have a brain.
As the sun shines brightly, bringing beautiful warm weather, the children have explored the farm across the road. It has been wonderful to see students thrive in taking more responsibility and becoming enthusiastic about their learning.
A big thank you to Mrs Katona (Ruby’s mum), who taught the children about Australian flora and the difference between Spring and Winter flowers. The students are excited about their upcoming project at the end of the Term, and many have started gathering research on their chosen animal.
We have the Year 1 and Year 2 dinner coming up.. watch this space!

Years 5/6 Inside Out ACMI
Our delightful experience at “ACMI”, with animated and imaginative clips and games, was undoubtedly one of the best we’ve ever experienced. We started the sunny day by entering ACMI, a building in Melbourne City. After finding our way through the theatre, we settled into the VIP seats in Cinema 1. We were first talked to by a lovely lady about animation. Then we watched “Inside Out”, a classic movie about a tween, Riley, who is going through a rollercoaster of emotions. The movie was displayed on the giant screen. “Inside Out” is inspiring and appropriate for all ages.
After watching the movie, we went to the ACMI museum. The museum was made up of many displays about animation and claymation. The museum also had real-life models of operating olden-day projectors. We got the opportunity to look at TV models.
Soon after, we reached the arcade and animation games. Some of the games were very old. We had a great time playing various animation games. Many screens around the museum displayed many different clips and unique images. Overall, this opportunity to visit ACMI was extraordinary and we highly recommend it.

Primary Cereal Domino Run
We are looking forward to watching our very first CEREAL-ously fun, cereal domino run this term! Help us by bringing along a full, unopened and in date box of healthy cereal.
We will create a domino effect through our primary area on Wednesday 4 September. Students can cheer on the falling boxes knowing that they are contributing to a local community food program, Pantry Plus, through Peninsula City Church in Frankston.
