Wellbeing Circles: Skills Based Learning with Bailey, the Therapy Dog
Meet Bailey -
At St Monica’s College, we believe that wellbeing is more than just a subject - it is a whole-school approach. We are proud to announce an exciting new initiative developed by our dedicated wellbeing team Wellbeing Circles: Skills Based Learning sessions designed for our students, with the heartwarming addition of dog therapy.
These sessions offer students a safe and supportive space to explore a variety of wellbeing themes such as emotional regulation, social connection, stress management, and confidence-building. Each group is facilitated by our qualified school counsellors and psychologists, and follows evidence-informed therapeutic practices that meet the needs of our students.
What makes these sessions truly special is the integration of dog therapy - and this is where we invite you to meet Bailey. Bailey is a gentle, friendly therapy dog who will be joining the selected group therapy sessions throughout the term. With his calming presence and playful nature, Bailey brings comfort, joy, and a sense of safety to our students. Research shows that animal-assisted therapy can significantly reduce anxiety, improve mood, and help students feel more engaged and supported.
Whether students are navigating social challenges, building resilience, or simply in need of a space to feel heard and valued, these structured sessions - combined with Bailey’s warm and calming companionship - offer a powerful approach to student wellbeing.
We are excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on our school community and are grateful to our wellbeing team for their expertise and care in bringing this program to life.
