LEADING TEACHER’S MESSAGE

Adam Greene
Adam Greene

For those who don’t know me, my name is Adam Greene, and I have had the absolute pleasure of filling in for Tim the last 6 weeks of Term 2. Something that has really stood out to me over my short time here is the capacity for kindness and reflection that so many Bursaria students have. To me, this really highlights the impact of our Personal and Social Learning lessons and our focus on getting 'ready to learn' through regulation. It has also made me incredibly proud of the Bursaria teachers and support staff.

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Bursaria team and am going to miss them all next term when I return to Acacia.

LEARNING PLACE SPOTLIGHT

HIGHLIGHT OF THE TERM

The biggest highlights of Term 2 have been starting up our Projects with Purpose Groups, and our combined specialist subjects. In addition to our regular classroom activities, our seniors have had the opportunity to engage in the Buddy Program (where we partnered with our little friends in Heath Learning Place), Gardening, Media, Digital Technology, Recycling or, Create and Design program. Some students have developed their hospitality skills in our Kindness Corner Cafe.  After recess each day, students transitioned to 1 of 3 classrooms to participate in Art, STEM, Personal and Social Capabilities or Health and PE. It was a great opportunity to learn new skills with different staff and peers.

STAFF UPDATES

After a long and difficult decision, Chris Duczek is moving on to a school closer to home so he can spend more time with his young family each day. This Friday is Chris’ last day; we wish him the best of luck at his new school.

Catalina, one of our amazing roaming ES, will also be taking the rest of the year off to spend time with her young baby. Luckily, we will see Catalina again next year.

OUR TERM IN PICTURES

Our PE Movement and Health specialist subjects allowed for our classes to combine for a couple of sessions a week. We worked on teamwork and friendship skills during interactive sessions.

Our Create and Design group worked together to design the logo for our up and running ‘Kindness Cafe’. The Digital Design group have been busy making hoodies for the staff using our Cricut machine.

A select group of Bursaria students were invited up to participate in Badminton lessons as an incursion. The senior boys particularly enjoyed these sessions and listed them as a highlight of the year so far.

Bursaria students participate in our Projects with Purpose program which gives our senior students the opportunity to learn lifelong skills. This year these included gardening, recycling, digital technologies, creating sellable items, buddies and media.

The whole Bursaria team hosted a going away party for our esteemed leader Tim. Tim took some time off at the end of Term Two to get married. CONGRATULATIONS TIM!!!!!!!

Every student in Bursaria has been involved in creating their ready to learn plans. Students are also heavily involved in ensuring the plans are utilised in the classroom.
