Year 9 PASS Chocolate Box Excursion: Physical Fitness in Action!

Our Year 9 PASS students recently visited Chocolate Box gym in Cromer for a one hour resistance session where they put their "Physical Fitness" unit into practice. Exercises focussed mostly on muscular endurance with core work and strength with squats and pull ups. Followed by some brutal sled pushes for power and some cardiovascular endurance on the bike to finish. Students also got to feel the benefit (and pain) of delayed onset muscle soreness in the recovery days afterwards.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards

Welcome back everyone, I hope you had a restful break and are feeling refreshed for the term ahead.

Firstly, I’d like to take a moment to congratulate the incredible students who completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award last term!

Their dedication, perseverance, and teamwork truly embodied the spirit of the program, and we could not be more proud.

Congratulations to:

  • Bronze Awardees: Kate, Ashley and Bowen (Year 10)
  • Silver Awardee: Tilman  (Year 12)
  • Gold Awardee: Matthew (Year 11)

Pittwater House is proud of each and every one of you! These Awards are no easy feat, and your success is a testament to your commitment and strength of character.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, they are internationally recognised achievements set for young people aged 14–24. They encourage participants to challenge themselves, explore new interests, serve their communities, and develop valuable life skills through four key areas: Volunteering, Physical Activity, Skills, and Expedition (with an added Residential section for Gold participants).

Here at Pittwater House we are an Open Award Centre, providing access to the program at no additional weekly cost and with no cap on student numbers. That means any student aged 14 or over can join the program, regardless of their year level and be supported through their award.

If your child is eligible and interested in getting involved, they can be registered at: www.dukeofed.com.au

For those doing the award, support workshops will run every Friday lunchtime in Room M119.

Parents and carers, please encourage your child to attend if they need help logging their goals, catching up on their progress, or have any questions about the Award.
