Preps

It is hard to believe that we are halfway through our second term as it is flying by. We want to use this newsletter to celebrate to specific achievements in Prep.

The first one has been the beginning of the Show and Tell program. It might not seem like too much but standing up in front of 20 of your peers can be a challenge for 5 year olds (and adults for that matter). The kids have done an amazing job projecting their voice, maintaining eye contact and entertaining us. In the last few weeks we have had a beekeeper outfit, photos of overseas trips and handmade Fijian jewellery. The topic for Show and Tell changes each week and we are looking forward to subject such as something that is green, my favourite toy and pets in the upcoming weeks.

The second achievement has been the huge strides that Preps have made with their writing. We now have Preps independently writing sentences using the sounds we have taught and the sight words that they know. We are moving into sounding out and writing four and five letter words. Apart from the brilliant spelling we are seeing some beautiful handwriting. Look below for some examples of Prep writing.

A couple of reminders to finish with, please ensure your child’s jackets are clearly labelled as we seem to be spending lots of time trying to get clothing back to its rightful owner. Secondly, can fruit snack please be packed in a separate container to ensure we don’t spend too much time having this quick snack.
