Co-curricular - Junior Sport

With the start of November, we come to the end of the representative season for sport. We have been fortunate this year to have a number of boys make it to representative levels. We had 14 boys representing IPSHA, six boys representing NSWCIS and three boys making it to NSW representative honours. A very successful year for the boys involved. One such student finished our representative season competing for NSWCIS in the PSSA Athletics Carnival. Xavier Khoury ran well on day one of the carnival to qualify second fastest for the 100m Sprint Semi-finals. On day two, Xavier ran himself into the finals, where he managed sixth place in a wind effected race. This places Xavier in the top ten fastest runners in the state for his age. Over the two days Xavier managed a new personal best of 12.68 seconds for the 100m. I know the College community will join me in congratulating Xavier on such a great achievement.

A reminder to all the boys playing Basketball that they need to return their singlets at the conclusion of the season washed and folded. This should occur after Round 12, preferably on Monday 20 November. With that, many boys have been given the responsibility of taking match balls and kits out to their fixtures throughout the year. If any student is still in possession of any College equipment, they are to return it to my office as soon as possible.

The Junior School Annual Co-curricular Presentation Night will be held in the College Gymnasium on Friday 24 November after school. The time is yet to be determined; however, I will publish a full set of details in next week’s Especean. On the night we recognise the Best and Fairest player in each team across all the sports and the team player awards. Boys will be recognised for their representative honors for both IPSHA, NSWCIS and NSW and the converted Sportsman of the Year Award will be named. All teams that went through the season undefeated will also be recognised. Parents/carers are warmly invited to join in the celebration of achievements, and boys are reminded that this is a compulsory event regardless of receiving an award, with full summer College uniform to be worn. I look forward to seeing many of you there as we celebrate the boys’ performances from 2023.
