Principal's News

'Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness.'

Anne Frank

Dear Families

Welcome to Term 4, the final term of 2023! It is a term filled with many wonderful opportunities and celebrations for our students and community. It is also a time were we delve deep into reviewing our year, our successes and improvements and as well plan for next year. This includes such things as curriculum, budgeting, resourcing, staffing, etc.

As you'd be aware, I have recently returned from Spain, completing part of the Camino with other Catholic primary principals from the Peninsula Network. I have shared some of this experience with staff and next week will commence visits to classrooms. In the coming weeks, I will write about some aspects of my amazing journey and the impact the pilgrimage has and will conitune to have as an individual and Catholic leader. While I was away, students worked as a class to try and beat my daily km! Congratulations to 5/6C who walked a staggering 257km over the 14 days that I was walking the Camino.

A FEW UPDATES:

2024 Classes

A letter was sent on Tuesday regarding requests for parents/carers to put forward any genuine requests to be taken into account as staff put together class lists for next year. A reminder that these need to be emailed to smcdermott@fatimarosebud.catholic.edu.au by 3.30pm this coming Monday, 16 October.

Production

Our school production 'When I Grow Up' is set for  Thursday 9th November at 6pm. Production preparations are well underway with Mrs Kostopoulos leading the way. The students are enthusiastically learning their lines, song lyrics, actions and rehearsing scenes. Only 4 weeks to go, we can't wait!

Staffing

I wish to advise that Mrs Josie Sierakowski will be venturing to NSW in 2024. Her family are moving to their much loved holiday destination Coffs Harbour where they have travelled to each summer. Josie has been a wonderful addition to our teaching team this year and we wish her the very best with this exciting family adventure.

Sunsmart

By teaching sensible sun protection habits from an early age and implementing sun protection measures, schools can play a significant role in reducing skin cancer risk. Our students are required to wear their school hats in Term 4. Please know that no hat means no play. Our students have been reminded and know these expectations.

In closing, a big thank you to those parents/carers who are assisting with walking to YAWA  and supervision for our Term 4 P-6 swimming program. Your support is truly appreciated by all the Fatima Staff.

Please take the time to check out the other important pages in our newsletter that inform you of what's happening and recapping some recent events.

Go gently
