IDAHOBIT DAY - RAINBOW COLOURS ALL OVER RPS!

As you are probably aware, on Friday the 16th of May we celebrated IDAHOBIT Day, a day that promotes respect for everyone for who they are and who they like.

To show their support, students were encouraged to wear rainbow colours or just accessories such as socks, shirts, or head accessories.

We did this so that all students at RPS can understand and recognise everyone for who they want to be!

Regards,

Lucy Atkinson, on behalf of The Wellbeing Team

IDAHOBIT DAY - International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination

May 17 marks the date in 1990 that homosexuality was removed from the WHO Classification of Diseases. Over three decades later, LGBTQIA+ communities still face discrimination – but every one of us can make a difference. Will you stand against discrimination?

We invite all students to show their support and stand together in celebration of diversity and inclusion. On Friday, May 16, students are encouraged to wear rainbow colors to mark the day. This can include clothing or accessories in shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet—the colors of the rainbow flag that symbolize LGBTQIA+ pride and solidarity.

Students can wear a mix of these colors, create rainbow-themed crafts, or simply show their support with a colorful accessory like a wristband, headband, or badge.

Wearing these colors is a visible and vibrant way to show unity, kindness, and respect for everyone in our school community.

National Fairy Bread Day

We are excited to celebrate National Fairy Bread Day a little earlier this year, marking the occasion with a fun and meaningful event! On this special day, students are invited to wear their favorite pyjamas to school, embracing the cozy spirit of the day.

In addition to the pyjama fun, we will be selling delicious Fairy Bread in the Snack Shack! All proceeds from the sale will be donated to The Pyjama Foundation, a wonderful organization dedicated to supporting children in foster care.

Fairy Bread, a beloved Australian treat made from white bread, butter, and colorful sprinkles, is a nostalgic snack that brings a touch of joy to all who enjoy it. This year, we’re not just celebrating the joy of Fairy Bread but also coming together as a school community to support a cause that makes a real difference in the lives of children in need.

We encourage all families to join in the fun and help us raise funds for this important cause. Let’s make this National Fairy Bread Day one to remember!

Fairy bread sales in Snack Shack and students are permited to wear pyjamas and bring a gold coin donation.

World Ocean Day (Sun 08 June)

On this Friday, we join the global celebration of World Ocean Day, a day dedicated to honouring, protecting, and conserving our oceans. The ocean is vital to life on Earth, providing the air we breathe, the food we eat, and regulating our climate.

To mark the occasion, students are invited to wear something that represents the ocean – think shades of blue, sea creatures, or ocean-themed accessories! Let’s come together to show our support for the health of our oceans and the future of our planet.

A touch of blue, a small hair clip or something small that represents the ocean and its sea creatures. Students must wear their school uniform on this day!

House Captain's Report

Thank you all for your incredible support during Spirit Week! We, as House Captains, we had an amazing time running the events and were so proud to see the whole school getting involved.

We kicked off the week on Monday with a Push-Up Challenge at lunch—congratulations to our winners: Sammy (5/6), Marty (3/4), Clyde (1/2), and in Foundation, Jerry!

On Tuesday, the school lit up in our vibrant House Colours. It was awesome to see so many students proudly representing their houses and raising our school spirit to new heights.

Wednesday brought a delicious sugar rush with our smoothie sales—students could choose between berry or banana flavours. They sold out fast, and it was fantastic seeing our Snack Shack helpers take part in the fun.

Thursday was a big one! We had the much-anticipated Grade 6 vs Teachers Dodgeball Match, with the whole school cheering (yes, even for the teachers!). Afterwards, students cooled down with a tasty treat—Frogs in a Pond from the Snack Shack.

And on Friday, Ripponlea was filled with Sports Superstars for our “Dress Up as Your Favourite Sports Star or Wear Your Favourite Sports Gear” day. Students showed off their team pride, with a huge range of teams and sports on display.

A huge thank you to all the students, parents, and staff who helped make the week such a success—and a special shout-out to our House Captains for their energy, leadership, and school spirit.

Let’s keep the Ripper spirit going all year long!

Warm regards,

The House Captains 🏆
