Breakfast Club Update
The Breakfast Club continues to be popular again this term.
The Breakfast Club was established in 2022 to support those students that struggle to have a breakfast before arriving at school.
It provides an opportunity for students to come through, grab some brekky before tackling the school day - in the process aiding their learning and focus by getting some food in their systems!
While still catering for those students it appears that a large majority of those attending are coming for a second breakfast.
We are seeking donations of non-perishable breakfast foods (e.g. Cereal, jam and spreads or a gold coin donation to purchase bread, milk, and butter) to ensure we can continue the program for all students.
Please note that Breakfast Club is NOT a substitute for the SAC program - rather a place for students to come and grab a cup of cereal or piece of toast, particularly if they’ve not been able to at home, once the school gates are open at 8.40am.
The SAC program has also extended its breakfast time, to capture later arrivals.
Donations can be left at the office or Breakfast Club.
Kind Regards
Sue
Recorder News
CONGRATULATIONS to the students who participated in the May Soirée on Wednesday! It was a great atmosphere as excited students and their families gathered in the Library at 6 pm for the HPS Recorder May Soirée.
The two HPS recorder ensembles opened the evening of items performed by students in the school’s recorder program. The music had finished by 6.40, but the feelings of happy achievement lingered – I am personally very grateful to the parents who took the time to pass on their congratulations and appreciation afterwards.
It was marvellous to see such concentration as the recorder students tried their very best on the night and it is a privilege to have such an opportunity to learn from the invaluable experience of preparing music for and playing to an audience, as well as to celebrate our music learning at HPS.
Thank you very much to everyone who played a part in preparing for the Soirée – helping to set up the stage, moving seats for the audience to and from the Hall, returning books and tables to the centre of the BER – we couldn’t have done all it without the helpful aftercare staff, parents and Naomi. Special thanks to Denise Pilinis for so kindly sharing the Library space for the soirée! Sincere appreciation goes also to all who attended: students, parents and families and staff.
After an energising and inspiring concert, I can’t wait to hear how students play next week!
