Assistant Principal's Report

Term 2 Week 5
Dear Families,
Welcome to another newsletter! Hope you’re all well and staying warm as the temperatures drop and we head into Winter. Please look after yourselves and reach out if you need any additional support from the school.
Camps
Next week, we excitedly wish the Year 5s all the best for their three-day adventure to Lake Dewar. Following that, our Year 4s head off to Sovereign Hill, for their three-day adventure as well.
Thank you to all the teachers that have liaised and worked tirelessly with the camp to plan and facilitate the event. We look forward to hearing about and checking in with students throughout their time away.
Athletics Carnivals
On Wednesday, our Year 5/6s participated in their Athletics Carnival at Newport Athletics Track and both the weather and the day was wonderful.
Students in Year 3/4 will participate in their Athletics carnival next Wednesday and we wish them well for this.

Annual General Meeting
On Tuesday the 27th May between 5:30pm and 6:00pm we will hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM) where we will share our Annual Report to the Community. If you are interested in attending, please email shevani.moodley@education.vic.gov.au
Before School Supervision: What Parents Need to Know
We’d like to remind families of the school’s supervision arrangements in the morning to ensure all students are safe and supported before the school day begins.
At Williamstown North Primary School, teacher supervision officially begins at 8:50am. While staff begin arriving before 8:50am and may be walking through the yard, there is no formal student supervision provided before 8:50am.
We understand that some families need to drop their children off earlier, and we are comfortable with students arriving from 8:30am onwards, as there are staff onsite. However, it’s important to note that parents remain responsible for the supervision of their children until 8:50am.
We have noticed an increasing number of students arriving between 8:00am and 8:30am, when there is no supervision at all. For safety reasons, we ask that students do not arrive before 8:30am. If your child needs to be at school earlier than 8:30am, we encourage you to use OSH Club, our before-school care provider. You can find information and enrolment details here:https://www.oshclub.com.au/find-us/williamstown-north-primary-school/
For students who walk or ride independently, please aim for them to arrive after 8:30am as well.
These arrangements are in line with the Department of Education’s Supervision Policy, which states that schools must ensure appropriate supervision during designated times. Outside of those times, families are responsible for their child’s supervision and safety.
Thank you for supporting us to ensure the wellbeing of all students.
School Savings Bonus (SSB) Allocation for Events
We have had a number of families report difficulties locating the CSEF/Credit option when wanting to use their School Savings Bonus (SSB) balance for events. If you’re unable to find this option when an event becomes available, please contact us at williamstown.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au and we will allocate the SSB accordingly. Thank you to those who have reached out and thank you for your patience with this process.
Volunteer Induction
If you are a parent/carer and have agreed to Volunteer at Williamstown North Primary School (this can be reading in the classroom, assisting with excursions and camps, helping out at events, working bees, in the Canteen etc), please read the Induction presentation and complete your details via the QR Code. We take our students safety seriously and require all volunteers to be formerly inducted. Volunteers must be inducted prior to working onsite.
