Maths Olympiad: Contest One
The Maths Olympiad is a national competition designed to challenge and extend students' mathematical thinking through a series of problem-solving questions. At our school, 30 keen mathematicians from Years 5 and 6 meet each week with Mrs Trend to practise their skills, working both independently and in small groups. Together, they focus on building reasoning strategies, exploring number patterns, and tackling tricky, multi-step problems.
In the lead-up to the latest Olympiad contest, our students have worked incredibly hard, learning new mathematical vocabulary and carefully unpacking the concepts behind each question. They've developed strategies for breaking down complex problems and confidently identifying the best approaches to tackle them. We’re thrilled to share that this dedication has paid off — with an outstanding 80% of our students achieving a perfect score of 5 out of 5. This marks our best Maths Olympiad result yet, and we are so proud of every student involved!

Child safety and wellbeing at Ringwood North Primary School: information for families and the school community
Ringwood North Primary School is currently reviewing our Child Safe Standards and related policies to continue to strengthen child safety across our organisation, in line with Victorian Government requirements. The standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Ringwood North Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the current standards. These are available to view on the school website at www.ringwoodnorthps.vic.edu.au.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.
In addition to these policies, we also invite parent input into the following policies: Bullying prevention, Complaints and Volunteers.
All policies can be viewed via the ‘Community’ page on the school website.
If you have any feedback, suggestions, comments or questions, please contact Ringwood North Primary School at ringwood.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au or by phone on 03 9876 3411.
Before and After School Supervision
Student safety at Ringwood North Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.
Before school: School grounds are supervised at 8:45am – 9:00am. A staff member will be supervising the front and another staff member the back yard duty zones of the school. The area behind the Years 5 and 6 Building will be ‘out of bounds’ during this time.
After school: School grounds are supervised at 3:30pm – 3:45pm. A staff member will be supervising the front and another staff member the back yard duty zones of the school. Again, the area behind the Years 5 and 6 Building will be ‘out of bounds’ during this time.
Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extra-curricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students are not left unattended at school outside of these supervised times unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity.
Families are encouraged to contact Georgia Boyd, Team Kids Coordinator, on 0421 776 482 or ringwoodnorthps@teamkids.com.au for more information about the before and after school care facilities available to our school community.
If you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements, please speak to one of the members of the Leadership Team.
For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy please see the school website or contact the school office. This policy includes Ringwood North Primary School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
