RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

 

In the newsletter, there will be a spotlight on what each year level will be learning in the upcoming fortnight. This is to support our families in having productive conversations with their child about these topics which will be taught in the classroom.

 

In the upcoming fortnight:

 

Foundation

Activities within this topic area will assist students to:

• reflect on how they can manage strong emotional responses

• discuss ways that they can take responsibility for their actions when they

feel strong emotions 

• practise techniques to deal with different feelings

 

Year 1 & 2

Activities within this topic area will assist students to:

• reflect on their emotional responses

• describe ways to express emotions that show awareness of the feelings and needs of  others

• practise techniques to deal with feelings of fear, frustration and anger.

 

Year 3 & 4:

Activities within this topic area will assist students to:

• identify communication skills that enhance relationships

• describe characteristics of cooperative behaviour and identify evidence of these in group activities

• contribute to and predict the consequences of group decisions in a range of situations

• identify a range of conflict-resolution strategies to negotiate positive outcomes to problems

 

Year 5 & 6: 

Activities within this topic area will assist students to:

• identify a range of coping strategies to help them deal with intense emotions

• identify the influence of self-talk on their actions and emotions.
