PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS – A WONDERFUL TURNOUT!!

Over the past couple of nights, we’ve been thrilled to welcome a huge number of families to our Parent-Teacher Interviews. It has been fantastic to see such strong engagement from our school community, with so many parents and carers taking the opportunity to connect with their child’s teacher.

These interviews are an important part of our whole-school reporting processes, providing a valuable opportunity to celebrate student learning progress, discuss current achievements, and set future learning goals. They also help to strengthen the partnership between home and school – a vital element in supporting every child to thrive.

Thank you to all families who attended and for your continued support of your child’s learning journey.

OUR LEARN ABOUT LITERACY SERIES AT ORCHARD PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL

We were thrilled to welcome so many families to the second session in our Learning About Literacy series, with a spotlight on FLUENCY. It was a fantastic morning filled with curiosity, collaboration and learning.

Parents had the opportunity to:

✔ Experience Literacy in Action – observing our engaging, evidence-based teaching in the Learning Communities.

✔ Understand the Why – gaining insights into the research and frameworks that shape our literacy instruction.

✔ Support Your Child at Home – learning practical strategies to build strong literacy habits at home.

✔ Explore Being a Parent Helper – discovering how to get involved and support literacy learning in the classroom.

The feedback was incredibly positive, with many parents sharing how informative and insightful they found the session.

We’re excited to continue the journey at our next session on Wednesday 4th June, where we’ll be exploring ‘Reading Comprehension’ – what it is, why it matters, and how you can support it at home. The session runs from 8:45-9:45am and we would love to see lots of our parents there as we continue to learn together.

SEUSSICAL JNR - TICKETS SELLING FAST!

We’re getting very excited for our school production of Seussical™ Jr, happening on Friday 27th June….it is just arond the corner!!! We have been blown away with the response to ticket sales over the past couple of weeks, with limited tickets still available.

Don’t forget, the school day will run on a modified schedule from 11:15am to 8:00pm, with all students travelling by bus to Beaconhills College Berwick for both the full dress rehearsal and the evening performance.

To support a smooth and exciting experience for all students, there will be no pick-up from the venue between 2:00pm and 4:00pm, and supervision will be available at school before the late start for eligible families.

Dinner and bus transport will be included in a Compass event, and students will need to arrive in their rehearsal outfit. Structured breaks and wellbeing supports will be in place throughout the day.

Please refer to the full Compass post sent to all families for complete details, including transport, supervision, and important deadlines.

SPORTS, SPORTS AND MORE SPORTS

SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Despite the weather not being on our side, our Athletics Day went ahead with some clever adaptations and modified events – and our students had an absolute blast! It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, energy, and sportsmanship on full display.

A huge thank you to Mr Scanlon for his incredible effort in organising such a fun and successful day for our students. His passion, planning, and dedication ensured everyone had a great time.

We sincerely apologise for any confusion caused by the miscommunication around the event being postponed and then going ahead. We appreciate your understanding as we navigated the unpredictable conditions.

Congratulations to all students who took part, and best of luck to those in Years 3–6 who will be selected to represent our school at the district competition in Term 3.

DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY

On Wednesday, Mr Scanlon took a team of 13 students who had progressed through the district level of competition, to proudly represent our school at the Division Cross Country event. The competition was fierce, and the standard incredibly high – but our students rose to the challenge and gave it their absolute best.

While none of our runners will be progressing to regionals this year, we are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school with determination, effort, and great sportsmanship. Well done to all involved.
