eyes on VET

Welcome to another edition of Eyes on VET!
This year, 97 applications were submitted for the VET Connect program in Year 11 in 2026. All students met the criteria to gain an interview, which is the next stage of the application process. Interviews were completed yesterday, and it was a delight to meet such mature, enthusiastic, and eager students who are genuinely excited about the opportunity to join the VET Connect program. All students who were interviewed will hear of the outcome on their first day back in Week 8. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of the applicants and hearing about their diverse interests and passions, many of which they felt could be nurtured through the VET Connect program."
Year 11 and 12 VET Connect students who did not have to attend any catch-up classes during the exam-free period have had a few extra days off. I look forward to seeing all students back at school in Week 7, refreshed and ready to complete the last 4 weeks of Term 2.
The Year 11 Hospitality students ran their annual Cancer Council Morning Tea again this year, on Monday 19th May, and it was another huge success. A huge thank you to everyone that donated to the Year 11 Hospitality Program's Morning Tea in Aid of the Cancer Council. A donation of $10 included 3 food items and a barista made take-away coffee which raised a total of $908.84. This is a massive achievement and the students were very grateful for all the support. Hospitality students ran the Red and Green Apple Cafés at the same time to spread out the crowds and assist with a smooth service. Well done to all the Year 11 and 12 Hospitality students and their trainers for all their hard work in supporting a wonderful cause. It was a proud moment to see students showcase their skills and enthusiasm, and all the warm feedback they received meant the world to them.
