Boarding Update

Winter brings out the best in our boarders

I’m always struck by how the Winter Sports season brings out the very best in our students—and especially in our boarders.

There’s a unique energy that settles over the school during this time of year. Early mornings, crisp air, and the sound of whistles and cheers become part of the rhythm of boarding life. Whether your child is playing Rugby, Soccer, Netball, or Hockey, these moments are more than just games—they are opportunities for growth, connection, and character-building.

For boarders, sport is a powerful extension of their home away from home. It’s where they learn to work as a team, push through challenges, and celebrate both effort and achievement. The camaraderie built on the field often mirrors the strong bonds formed in the boarding house—bonds that are strengthened through shared experiences and mutual support.

It’s also heartwarming to see the broader Kinross Wolaroi community come together on weekends. Families travel from near and far to support their children, and the sidelines become a place of connection and pride. These gatherings remind us of the strong partnership between school and home, and the vital role you play in your child’s journey.

Beyond sport, our boarders continue to impress through their involvement in service and leadership. From the Red Shield Appeal and Hot Meals Outreach to early morning rowing, Cattle Team, and the Duke of Edinburgh program, they are embracing every opportunity to grow into capable, compassionate young adults.

Thank you for your ongoing support. The Winter Sports season is a wonderful reminder of the resilience, spirit, and potential of our boarders—and of the vibrant community we’re building together.
