Grand-Friend's Day

Grandparents play a pivotal role in the lives of children, offering a unique blend of love, wisdom, and stability. Their presence can significantly impact a child's emotional and social development. On Thursday 19 June we will celebrate grandparents, grand-friends, relatives, and those who take on the role of a grandparent within their family or community. Grandparents often provide a sense of security and unconditional love. This nurturing environment helps children feel valued and supported, fostering their self-esteem and emotional well-being. The bond between grandparents and grandchildren is often characterised by patience and understanding, which can be particularly comforting during challenging times.

Grandparents are a rich source of knowledge and life experiences. They share stories and traditions that help children understand their heritage and family history. This connection to the past can instil a sense of identity and belonging in children. Moreover, the wisdom and life lessons imparted by grandparents can guide children in making informed decisions and developing a strong moral compass.

Grandparents' contributions are invaluable, enriching the lives of their grandchildren and strengthening the fabric of their communities. We are looking forward to taking a moment to give thanks for the contributions these wonderful family members make to our lives, our families, and our communities.

Grand-Friend's Day will begin with a classroom visit at 2:00pm with light refreshments being served from 2:30pm until 3:15pm in the Glasshouse.

Students and staff in the Junior School are looking forward to an evening of lively entertainment on Thursday 19 June at our annual Performing Arts evening. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be performing this spectacular event. The Performing Arts evening is a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to enjoy a variety of entertainment.

Orange Interschools STEM Challenge

Kinross Wolaroi Junior School was excited to host the inaugural Orange Interschool STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Challenge last week for Stage 2 students. This exciting initiative is the work of Mrs Myrri Fatai, our Leader of Technology and Innovation for the Junior School. Students from Orange Anglican Grammar School and Orange Christian School attended Kinross Wolaroi School for this exciting event.

STEM education is important in schools because it equips students with critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, which are essential for future careers and innovation. By fostering a strong STEM foundation, we prepare students to thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world and address complex global challenges.

The aim of the Orange Interschool STEM Challenge is to bring together students with a passion and aptitude for STEM learning and allow them to work together in a collaborative environment to complete STEM challenges.  This is an opportunity for students and teachers in the Orange community to learn and share best practice teaching methods, provide student extension experiences and ultimately strengthen our sense of community within the Orange region. Thank you to Mrs Fatai for leading this fabulous initiative for our school.

Douglas House Church Service

You warmly invite you to Douglas House Church Service being held on Sunday 22 June at Orange Uniting Church, 217 Anson Street starting at 9:30am. Kinross Wolaroi Students Making Their Mark

Digby McGee and Harry Sullivan attended CIS Hockey trials in Newcastle in week 4 providing valuable experiences. They both had an enjoyable time gaining enhanced teamwork skill by collaborating with peers from different schools, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect.

At Kinross Wolaroi we value and strive for academic rigour. Students have a myriad of opportunities to engage in enriching learning experiences which in some instances the School provides or facilitates student access to them.  Please share with us your child’s interest, passions, and achievements by emailing junioroffice@kws.nsw.edu.au
