In breezy, overcast conditions at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, a determined Kinross Wolaroi squad of 25 students—from Year 7 through to Year 12—took on the AICES Cross Country Championships with heart, grit, and plenty of smiles.
Facing tough opposition, every athlete gave an outstanding account of themselves, displaying resilience and composure across a challenging course. The camaraderie between runners was especially inspiring, with senior students encouraging their younger teammates and setting an excellent example of sportsmanship and school pride.
A special mention to Head Boy Nick Tancred, whose calm leadership helped settle nerves and lifted the spirits of many, particularly those competing at this level for the first time.
We are thrilled to announce that six Kinross Wolaroi runners have qualified for the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Championships—a wonderful achievement and testament to their hard work. Congratulations in particular to Skye Napier (15 Years) who claimed a silver medal with a superb run in her division.
On behalf of Mr Bettle, Mr Posthumus, Mr Peters, Mr Coetzee and myself, thank you to all students for their exemplary behaviour, effort, and team-first attitude throughout the day. It was a privilege to witness such a positive and committed group proudly representing Kinross Wolaroi School.
Congratulations to all involved—and best of luck to our CIS representatives:

Mr Ben Watt, Coordinator
This weekend sees our Rugby players getting a well-deserved break. The passion and commitment from our students is infectious and it is great to see so many players enjoying their Rugby.
On Wednesday our Girls Rugby players represented ISA in the CIS Girls Rugby Sevens Championships in Sydney. Lilly Clarke, Sophie Luelf and Ruby Leigo represented the Opens Girls and Kylis Delaney, Thalia Brett, Matilda Tink, Matilda Whiteley and Sienna Everson represented the U16s. Lilly Clarke was selected for the NSW CIS Opens team and Kylis Delaney and Sienna Everson were selected to represent the NSW CIS in the U16s. Well Done Ladies.
As this report is being written, we have Sam Hill, Tom Tink, Henry Luelf, Will Kirby and Maddox Bruem attending trials for the ISA U16s and Oscar Cleary, Lachlan De Vries and Haper Shaw attending the Opens ISA trials. We wish these boys the best of luck.
I hope our Kinross Wolaroi Rugby family have a great long weekend and return ready to rip back into the season.

Preparations for the Henley Royal Regatta are in full swing, underpinned by a fantastic attitude to training both on and off the water. A key focus has been our holistic approach -prioritising rest, nutrition, mindfulness, and overall physical and mental wellbeing. The squad has displayed exceptional professionalism, diligence, and attention to detail throughout the term.
The early weeks of Term 2 provided favourable weather, with May offering the last stretch of warmth before winter truly set in. Training in cold, wet, and windy conditions is never easy, yet the squad has adapted without complaint, demonstrating impressive mental resilience. The coaching team is incredibly proud of their commitment and mindset.
The Henley Royal Regatta, first held in 1839, is the most prestigious rowing event in the world. While this marks Kinross Wolaroi’s second appearance at Henley, it is the first time the school has fielded both a male and female crew—an historic milestone and a testament to the strength and depth of the program.
Special mention goes to Coach Emma Fessey, who has stepped in to support the girls’ crew during periods of illness. Her dedication and flexibility have been invaluable. Meanwhile, strength and conditioning under Mr Bettle has drawn outstanding feedback, with continual progress being made on the water.
Training in recent weeks has emphasised endurance and T2 aerobic development. With just three weeks until departure, our focus now shifts to speed work—sharpening the axe as we prepare to compete against the world’s best.
Best wishes to all Kinross sporting teams in their upcoming fixtures.

The winter season of Sport for Recreation is well underway, and students continue to show great enthusiasm and commitment.
This inclusive program provides a non-competitive space to focus on fitness, movement, and wellbeing, with a mix of activities designed to keep things fresh and engaging.
In recent weeks, we’ve introduced a new cycle class to the lineup, which was met with great energy—Alice Commins showed fantastic enthusiasm and encouraged others to push themselves. Meanwhile, Henry Baker has taken the lead in guiding group stretching sessions, contributing to the supportive and focused atmosphere.
With plenty of the season still ahead, it’s exciting to see students embracing each new challenge with positivity and drive.
Congratulations to students Tom McIsaac, Caleb Cashman, Chloe Provost & Annabel Arnot for their performance at the recent NSW All Schools Swimming Championships. Congratulations to medalists Annabel (1x Silver 2 x Bronze) & Chloe (1x Bronze). We await the NSW team announcement. What a way to finish the Summer Swimming Season.
