Grade 5/6 Lightning Prem Day

What an incredible day we had at the Lightning Premiership!

Our students represented the school with pride, resilience, and outstanding sportsmanship in every sport.

In Girls Netball, our team displayed fantastic skill and cohesion, finishing 2nd overall after a string of strong performances late in the tournament.

Both the Boys and Girls Soccer teams also had excellent tournaments, each securing 2nd place with some closely contested and exciting matches.

The Boys AFL team showed grit and perseverance, finishing 3rd after a series of tough, hard-fought games.

A special mention goes to our Mixed Netball team, who demonstrated great effort, enthusiasm, and improvement across the day, finishing 5th overall in a very competitive pool.

A big thank you to all our coaches, staff, and parent helpers who ensured the day ran smoothly.

And most importantly, congratulations to all the students who participated—you should be incredibly proud of your efforts and the way you represented our school.

A Word From The 6's

On Wednesday, we ventured to Ballam Park for our AFL 9’s tournament.

Game one was against Woodleigh and game two against Frankston were blowouts 48-6 and 59-0. In game one and two, Patrick spearheaded our scoring, with Charlie, Jax and Paul playing major roles.

In both of those games we played amazingly, but in our third game, against Bayside Christian College - a team we actually lost to them in an earlier practice match, we had to grind out our third win 16-4, with Eamon and Archie kicking one goal each. Hot starts to the tournament from Jaxon, Connor, Liam and Patrick were proving essential.

By our 4th game, our tired legs resulted in our first lost against St Brendans with inaccuracy costing us, the final score 12-9. Our team bounced back in Game 5 winning, 75-0 against Ballam Park. A number of players stood out with Jack kicking 3, while Landon and Remy hit the scoreboard too. Xavier was dominant around the ground, while pressure from Verity in the forward line, and the linking play of Raff in the middle helped others hit the scoreboard.

Our next game against Karingal, came down to the wire where Eli S kicked the game winning goal with 5 seconds to go. The score was 15-12 in a nailbiter. To make the next round we needed to win the next game and we were playing Frankston Heights Primary School. We had a lead at half time but they started to come back with a strong wind. Luckily we held on and won by 2 points 16-14 on the back of Harley’s two amazing goals.

Heading into our ‘must win’ last game, we could feel the tension in the air.

Both St. A’s and St. John's had the hopes of taking out the shield on the line. We tried our hearts out, but lost to a very worthy opponent 9-27. So overall, it was a huge success with St. A’s finishing third.

We were stoked about how we played and we knew we did our hardest, wearing the jumper with pride.
