Recently in Community Hub we welcomed Yu Qian from Centre Culture Ethnicity & Health who discussed the importance of Liver health. We learned that your liver is a hardworking, life-saving organ that does over 500 important jobs! It cleans out toxins from your blood, stores energy, and helps your body digest fats, among other things. Keeping our bodies healthy means our bodies can remove waste safely, maintain energy levels, and fight off infections. It was definitely an informative health session!

Our English Citizenship class recently went on a memorable excursion to the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne. Our teacher explained the significance of the Eternal Flame which has burned since 1954 as a symbol that the memory of those who served will never be extinguished. Inside the Shrine, the students explored and learned about the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who fought for our country. It was a powerful opportunity to pay our respects, and the Shrine itself was absolutely breath-taking. Outside, they enjoyed taking photos on the balcony framed by a beautiful view of the Melbourne skyline. We are looking forward to visiting again next year when the Anzac Train station opens.

We’re grateful for our partnership with the Springvale community, especially the Springvale Library, who sent two wonderful librarians to our playgroup to share stories and songs. Singing plays an important role in early development because it helps babies and young children hear and copy sounds, building the oral language skills they need for speaking, listening, and eventually reading. We encourage all children to engage with books, even if they are simply looking at pictures, as this helps them make sense of the world around them and supports early literacy in a meaningful way.

As term ends, please note that hub classes will finish on Thursday December 4th and we are not taking new hub participants until next year. If you know of anyone that is interested in our classes, please tell them to call the office and please stay tuned for more information.
