The SLC and MLC girls recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a basketball clinic, where they got to showcase their true talents. They practised impressive dribbling skills, shooting techniques, and even played a fun game of Golden Child. It was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. In case you and your friends would like to play, these are the rules.
The "Golden Child" basketball game involves two teams: a shooting team and a running team. The shooting team tries to score as many baskets as possible while the running team takes turns running laps around part of the court. When a shooter scores, the runner must freeze, and the next runner starts their lap. The "golden child," which is the last runner, can unfreeze the other runners by tagging them while on their lap.
On December the 10th 2025, some social media platforms will be restricted for children under 16. This means children won’t be able to access particular apps or play certain games. We know this may cause some students to be upset, however we also know that it is going to provide more opportunities for children to learn a new skill, catch up with friends to play board games, get outside and ride their bike or play a sport. For any parents/carers that have any questions about the social media restrictions please refer to this website:
https://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/industry-regulation/social-media-age-restrictions
And this website provides parents with conversation starters to help talk to your child about the restrictions:

Foundation transition began three weeks ago, and it has been wonderful so far. The Prep teachers are thrilled to meet the new students, and on the very first transition day more than 30 children attended. The room was filled with smiling faces and eager new learners. This Friday was the last transition session. We look forward to helping our Foundation students settle into our school in 2026!
Our Year 5 students finally have the chance to apply for leadership roles for next year. Next Tuesday, all students who applied for School Captain will present their speeches to the Year 4s and 5s. As captains ourselves, we wish you the very best of luck. You'll all do great! Students applying for other leadership positions, such as House Captain, Art, LOTE, and Environmental Science, will be submitting written applications to the teachers in charge. Good luck, Year 5s we know you will be amazing future leaders of our school!
Remembrance Day is a time to honour the soldiers who served and sacrificed their lives for our country. On the 11th of November, at 11 a.m., we paused for a minute of silence to remember and respect those who died fighting to protect our country.
The Yearbook is now on sale for $5.00. This is such a wonderful book of memories to purchase! Our new polos are also available in the office and look fantastic—they can be purchased for $50.00.
Congratulations to Esuen in 56C who won a very special Art competition. She received a certificate along with a $50.00 voucher. Maybe she will buy more Art supplies…. Well done Esuen- you have made SRPS proud!
