From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to the second half of Term 4!
It’s hard to believe how quickly the year is drawing to a close and the final weeks are shaping up to be full of celebration, reflection and community connection. I am sharing this fortnight’s news on Mrs Cottier’s behalf while she is away on leave.
2026 Foundation Transition
Our wonderful 2026 Foundation students completed their final Transition session on Friday. Over the course of four sessions, the students enjoyed becoming familiar with school and classroom routines, laying the foundation for a successful year of learning ahead. During the final session, each student received a Transition show bag filled with learning goodies, a book and a completion certificate. There were plenty of big smiles and proud parents and we are excited to welcome our newest learners to school every day in 2026!
Big Mob Cultural Connections Day
Four of our student leaders attended a special Marrung event last week at the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens. This event brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from different schools for a day of yarning, fun activities and opportunities to connect. Although our school does not currently have Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students, our leaders were invited to attend, providing them with a valuable opportunity to learn, listen and strengthen their understanding of First Nations Cultures and perspectives.
We would like to thank all our partner organisations for their generous donations, Mrs Raciti and Miss Jamar for their hard work in putting together the special show bags, and First Nation’s staff Mrs Sweetman and Mr Cox for supporting our students on the day.
City of Greater Dandenong High School Transitions Forum 2025
The City of Greater Dandenong hosted a transitions forum for some of our Grade 6 students on Wednesday, preparing them for the exciting journey to high school next year. Students participated in health and wellbeing activities aimed at boosting their confidence, including team-building exercises, navigating friendships and personal goal-setting. Some of the highlights they shared with us were meeting new people and hearing from the panel of high school students about their experiences.
M-City School Community Christmas Art Program
Once again, our school has participated in the M-City School Community Christmas Art Program. Students on each campus
collaborated to decorate a Christmas tree that will be displayed at the M-City Shopping Centre throughout December. This wonderful opportunity allows us to showcase our students’ creativity to the wider community, who will have the chance to vote for their favourite tree, with cash prizes awarded to the top three schools. Be sure to visit M-City, check out our school’s tree and cast your vote!
School Review Community Celebration
On Wednesday, December 3rd, at 9am we will host a special School Review Community Celebration on Heights Campus, where we will share and celebrate the achievements of the past four years. Every Victorian government school undertakes a School Review every four years. This process involves working with an external reviewer, challenge partners and school staff to evaluate our progress, identify strengths and determine future priorities for student learning and wellbeing. It guides the development of our next School Strategic Plan and helps ensure that our school continues to grow, improve and deliver the best outcomes for every student. We warmly invite all families to join us! Your partnership and voice have played an important role in our school’s story, and we would welcome the chance to express our gratitude and celebrate with you.
End of Year Events – Save the Date
On Thursday, December 18th, we will hold our Whole School End of Year Awards Ceremony at the Springvale Town Hall. We look forward to seeing you there!
For our Year 6 families, our Year 6 Graduation will be held on Wednesday, December 17th, where we will celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2025 and farewell them as they take their next step in learning.
Additional details about both of these special events will be shared with the school community in the coming weeks.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Mirela Karup
Acting Principal
